General Announcements

Attention DECA members - there will be an All-Club meeting right after school in room S1. See you there!!

ATTENTION ALL DECA STUDENTS WHO ARE ATTENDING THE WOLVERINE INVITATIONAL - There will be a mandatory meeting right after school on Monday in room S1 to discuss the specifics of our field trip. If you cannot make the meeting, see Mrs. Grantham ASAP!

Hey Sophomores: We have a meeting Friday morning at 7:00am in room S-8 to discuss plans for prom. All are welcome! Hope to see you there!!!!

The fall production of “Our Town” will be Thurs. Friday and Sat. at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at lunch all this week. Don’t miss it.

National Honor Society members, please plan to attend a special NHS meeting Monday, October 29 at 2:20 p.m. in the Forum. We will be discussing volunteer opportunities for our upcoming Bonfils blood drive. If you cannot attend the meeting but would still like to help with the blood drive, please talk to on of the NHS officers, or to Mr. Sale or Ms. Gaffney in the English office.

Seniors: Graduation announcement packets can be picked up in the main office or the guidance office. Orders will be taken November 1 and November 2 in the cafeteria during lunches.

The “Technology Student Association” or, “TSA club”, has a fun and exciting activity planned for you at our next TSA meeting on Tuesday, October 30th in room E10 at 2:25. Please remember your Dues! If you are new to TSA, come see what the TSA club is all about! A reminder to all TSA officers, don’t forget about the officers meeting on Monday, Oct 29th. See Mr. McMullen for questions.

Please check the Attendance Office or the table in the cafeteria for lost and found items. All items not claimed will be donated.

The French Club will be showing an award winning film, "Les Choristes" (lay core east), today after school in room C-21. Come for food and an amazing film! We will begin promptly at 2:30.

We are having a scavenger hunt around the school. Prizes will be awarded.

How would you like to have dinner with Chris Crutcher, author of such books as Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, Ironman, and Whale Talk?

Drop by the library to enter a contest in which two students will be chosen to join Mr. Crutcher for dinner Sunday evening, November 4th. All you have to do is answer these questions:

  • What is your favorite Chris Crutcher book and why is it your favorite?
  • What would you like to discuss with Mr. Crutcher at dinner? What questions would you like to ask him?

Two winners will be randomly drawn from all entries at the end of the school day on October 31st.

Do you like to debate? Do you like international politics? Would you like to represent a foreign country trying to reach solutions on global issues? Do you like to research? Then become a delegate for the Model United Nations! We are looking for delegates to represent Arapahoe High School at competitions around the state. Competitions are once a month and held at different schools. This Thursday, October 25 th at 2:30 in room C24, the AHS MUN Club will be holding an informational meeting for all those interested. We are looking for delegations for the Boulder Conference in December which deals with Humanitarian Aid in Africa. If this topic interests you then come check us out! Our first competition is Saturday, November 10 th at Cherry Creek High School. We will be representing the Russian Federation dealing with jurisdiction in the Arctic and Global Warming. See Mrs. Hurt in Social Studies, Ms. DiSepio in World Language, or Club President Michael Marino for more details or if you can't make the meeting. Hope to see you there!

Take a break from all the “ghooling” madness of the holiday season and come check out the Library. In addition to having all the materials and studying tools you need to get ready for all of your “beastly” projects, we are sponsoring a holiday contest for all students! Come check out the jar of goodies located at the Circulation counter and make your best guess. The prize for the closest guess is the jar of goodies of course! The lucky winner will be announced on Wednesday, October 31st.

Athletics

AHS Special Olympics Basketball is almost ready to start!

Any student who is interested in participating should come to room S-6 and see Mrs. Pepe for an application. Practices start at the end of November and the season runs through the first week of March. We practice once or twice a week at AHS in the evening.
