General Announcements

Attention Personal Survival students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd hour classes. Please note: If you have not signed up for "Alive at 25", the website “locks up” 48hrs prior to the beginning of a class. However, it is not too late to sign up. First, if you have not scheduled on line, please call the following phone number: (720-269-4046) and sign up over the phone. Second, leave a message with your phone number. Finally, this message and the instructions for signing up will be posted near the security office, with Mr Richmond, and at the front desk. Any further questions can be answered by Officer Sickafoose.

The fall production of “Our Town” will be Thurs. Friday and Sat. at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at lunch all this week. Don’t miss it.

Today is Rockies day. Enjoy a Rockies dog, chips, and soda for $3, brought to you by AHS administration and counseling department. Go Rockies!

National Honor Society members, please plan to attend a special NHS meeting Monday, October 29 at 2:20 p.m. in the Forum. We will be discussing volunteer opportunities for our upcoming Bonfils blood drive. If you cannot attend the meeting but would still like to help with the blood drive, please talk to on of the NHS officers, or to Mr. Sale or Ms. Gaffney in the English office.

The “Technology Student Association” or, “TSA club”, has a fun and exciting activity planned for you at our next TSA meeting on Tuesday, October 30th in room E10 at 2:25. Please remember your Dues! If you are new to TSA, come see what the TSA club is all about! A reminder to all TSA officers, don’t forget about the officers meeting on Monday, Oct 29th. See Mr. McMullen for questions.

Students: Picture retake day is today in the Theater Hallway from 9:00 until 12:30. Bring in your original package for return. Thank you

The French Club will be showing an award winning film, "Les Choristes" (lay core east), tomorrow after school in room C-21. Come for food and an amazing film! We will begin promptly at 2:30.

Attention all Sophomores! Are you planning on going to college? If you are, please sign up for the PLAN test on Saturday October 27th. Come on in and sign up with Mrs. Oeinck in the counseling office from October 15th – today October 24th.

How would you like to have dinner with Chris Crutcher, author of such books as Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, Ironman, and Whale Talk?

Drop by the library to enter a contest in which two students will be chosen to join Mr. Crutcher for dinner Sunday evening, November 4th. All you have to do is answer these questions:

  • What is your favorite Chris Crutcher book and why is it your favorite?
  • What would you like to discuss with Mr. Crutcher at dinner? What questions would you like to ask him?

Two winners will be randomly drawn from all entries at the end of the school day on October 31st.

Spanish Club will be showing Tim Burton’s The Night Before Christmas today at 2:30 in Room C-21. All are welcome! Please note this has been changed due to after school activities.

Do you like to debate? Do you like international politics? Would you like to represent a foreign country trying to reach solutions on global issues? Do you like to research? Then become a delegate for the Model United Nations! We are looking for delegates to represent Arapahoe High School at competitions around the state. Competitions are once a month and held at different schools. This Thursday, October 25 th at 2:30 in room C24, the AHS MUN Club will be holding an informational meeting for all those interested. We are looking for delegations for the Boulder Conference in December which deals with Humanitarian Aid in Africa. If this topic interests you then come check us out! Our first competition is Saturday, November 10 th at Cherry Creek High School. We will be representing the Russian Federation dealing with jurisdiction in the Arctic and Global Warming. See Mrs. Hurt in Social Studies, Ms. DiSepio in World Language, or Club President Michael Marino for more details or if you can't make the meeting. Hope to see you there!

Athletics

AHS Special Olympics Basketball is almost ready to start!

Any student who is interested in participating should come to room S-6 and see Mrs. Pepe for an application. Practices start at the end of November and the season runs through the first week of March. We practice once or twice a week at AHS in the evening.

After a brief meeting, we will clean our sponsored area on Franklin Street.

Attention all students interested in helping to make a difference in saving lives of teenage drivers, we need your support and ideas at our first REMEMBER CLUB meeting today after school in Room S9. Please come to the Remember Club meeting and help us get our Seat Belt Challenge underway. The Remember Club meeting will start at 2:20pm in Room S9 on Wednesday.

The Remember Club asks you to buckle up and take care of one another.
