WISH WEEK IS HERE! We are sponsoring a young boy named Marcus. His wish is to go to Disney World. We have many events planned this week to help raise money to make his wish come true. Plan to attend the CU Buffoons concert tonight at 7pm. Tickets are $5.00. Don't miss the senior students vs. staff basketball game on Thursday at 7pm. Tickets are also $5.00. You can also donate spare change in any of the wishing wells located throughout the school. Thanks for helping to Make Dreams Come True this week!

FBLA we have a meeting today afterschool in room S1. We will be passing out lettering requirements and answering questions.
Congratulations to all members of the Winter Guard for scoring their highest points of the season on Saturday in our very own gym! They placed 2nd with a season high 83.9 points, just 1 point out of first place!! Way to go ladies!!! The State Championships are on Saturday at the CU Events Center in Boulder - good luck Winter Guard.

Over spring break, the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team easily defeated Mountain Vista and Rock Canyon while losing in a very close game to Mullen. This week they will play:
Douglas County- Wednesday, 5:30 at LPS,
Rangeview – Friday, 7:00 p.m. at Aurora Public Schools Stadium
Kent – Saturday, 5:00 p.m. at LPS

Congratulations to all the boy’s swimmers who participated in the Coaches Invitational Meet this weekend. Arapahoe came in 13th out of 38 teams. Top swims were:
Dave Wise 18th place in the 200 Free, a new state qualifying time.
Andrew Gibbs, 17th place in the 500 free, state qualifying time.
Ian Francis 9th place in the 100 breast, state qualifying time, 16th place in the 200 IM, state qualifying time.
200 Medley relay, 14th place. 200 free relay 7th place. 400 free relay 9th place.

Mark your calendar for the Wish Week Concert event on Monday, March 31st. Tickets for the CU Buffoons concert will be sold during lunch. The concert is at 7pm and tickets are just $5.00. The big Seniors vs. Staff Basketball game is Thursday April 3rd, tickets are $5.00.
Auditions for the 2008-2009 AHS Concert Choir, Choralettes and Arapahoe Singers will be held April 21 – 25. There are sign up sheets in the choir room and everyone is welcome to audition. Please see Ms. Parmenter for details.

The girls JV Lacrosse team continued their undefeated season with a win against Colorado Academy on Thursday by a score of 12-4. Scoring goals for the team were Amber Olsen, Kayla Fasold, Maddison Miller, Shannan Pullara, Courtney Jones, Samantha Perkins and Ali Harden. Congratulations girls on your 6-0 season!!!

The Warriors are looking to upset a team ranked in the Top Ten, that also has two of the state's top high school prospects. Arapahoe's starting pitcher is Ryan Whittemore. There will be baseball Trivia questions with prizes. Pregame music starts at 3:00pm
Congratulations to the girl’s golf team for taking 1st place in a pre-season league match at Aurora Hills on Wednesday. There were three individual Warriors that finished in the top ten.

In order to accommodate spring sports practices for soccer, track, tennis and golf, the clinic tonight, March 19th will be extended to 6:30 p.m. The entire clinic will run from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m. Don’t forget, you must have a current physical on file in the Athletic Office to participate in clinics and tryouts. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Pramenko.

Attention all of you lady Warriors trying out for Cheerleading for the 2008-2009 school year. In order to accommodate spring sports practices for soccer, track, tennis and golf, the clinic on Wednesday night, March 19th will be extended to 6:30 p.m. The entire clinic will run from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m. Don’t forget, you must have a current physical on file in the Athletic Office to participate in clinics and tryouts. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Pramenko.
Today at 4:00 the JV Gold Boys Lacrosse team will take on Boulder High School in Boulder. They are looking to go 3-0. Go Warriors!
Hey Warriors--it's another busy week for the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team. After defeating Ralston Valley last Saturday 11-6, they have three games this week. They play Golden this afternoon at Newton at 4:00. They take on Colorado Academy at C. A. at 5:00 on Thursday, and they finish their week by playing Cherry Creek Saturday at LPS Stadium at 5:00. Please come out and cheer on the team at all of their games.

WISH WEEK is happening soon! We will celebrate Wish Week March 31st thru April 4th. AHS, please help us send 8 year old Marcus to Disney World. The CU Buffoons are coming back to AHS. Mark your calendar for the Wish Week Concert event on Monday, March 31st. Tickets for the CU Buffoons concert will be sold during lunch hours starting Wed. March 19th. The concert is at 7pm and tickets are just $5.00.

“The Lady Warrior Golf team had its first competition yesterday. The Varsity team finished in third place in a Continental League pre-season match, led by Leslie McGetrick’s two-over par at Springhill Golf Course. The JV team beat Valor High School head-to-head at South Suburban Golf Course.”
The girl’s JV tennis team defeated Castle View’s varsity team yesterday by a score of 5-2. Congratulations girls!
The Girls JV Lacrosse team defeated Chaparral yesterday with a score of 6-4. Beth Ambrozic scored 3 goals, and Sarah Miller, Nicole Lyons and Amber Olsen each scored one goal. Assists were made by Ali Harden and Audrey Damico. Congratulations to the JV team for a successful first week of play!
Tomorrow Your Arapahoe Warrior Track and Field team will be competing right here at Arapahoe High School in a very special varsity track meet. We will be teaming up with both Heritage and Littleton to take on the schools from Fort Collins to find out which city has the strongest track programs. This event starts at 10:00am so please come out and support your Warrior Track Team

One of the highlights will be Senior Flute Player, Abbe Haller, performing a Telemann Flute Concerto! The Pre-Concert Ensembles start at 5:45pm, with the main concert following at 7pm. It's free, so come tonight and enjoy some wonderful music!!

The JV Gold & Black Tennis teams swept Douglas County with 14 doubles team wins and 0 losses
The JV Girls lacrosse team defeated Regis on Tuesday with a score of 7-6. Scoring goals for the team were Amber Olsen with 4 goals, Beth Ambrozic, Audrey Damico and Molly Witt with one goal each. This was a fantastic start to the season. Congratulations to our JV Lacrosse team!

Tomorrow night is the Band Concert in the Theatre featuring Small Ensembles, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. One of the highlights will be Senior Flute Player, Abbe Haller, performing a Telemann Flute Concerto! The Pre-Concert Ensembles start at 5:45pm, with the main concert following at 7pm. It's free, so come tomorrow night and enjoy some wonderful music!!

Congratulations to Jazz I and The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs for achieving unanimous superior ratings at Friday's Mile High Jazz Festival! Also, congratulations to Jazz II for achieving excellent ratings at the jazz festival. Come out this afternoon and cheer on the Varsity baseball team as they play Cherokee Trail at 4 pm here at Arapahoe. The festivities begin at 3 pm with pregame music, trivia and free food. Go Warriors!
The Men’s Swimming and Diving Team had a great dual meet against Douglas County on Thursday and the Arapahoe Relays Meet on Saturday. The team won the meet against Douglas County and the Varsity Black Team placed third at the Arapahoe Relays. Event winners from Arapahoe included seniors Nik Thomas, Ian Francis, Jeff Nadel, Dave Wise and sophomore Andrew Gibbs. Additionally, Ian Francis qualified for state in the 100 breaststroke along with the 400 Freestyle Relay of Dave Wise, Jeff Nadel, Nik Thomas, and Andrew Gibbs. Great swimming guys!

We would like to encourage you to bring something to read. You are not permitted to work on anything else. Electronic devices are not permitted and proctors have been instructed to take them. We would also like to remind you that Saturday night we “spring ahead” with Daylight Savings Time, so please remember to set your clock one hour ahead. The Arapahoe faculty would like to thank you in advance for your very best effort on this important test.

The topic for beginners is “the link between human trafficking and threats to national sovereignty and international security”. The topic for returning members is “Planning for Regional Stability in the Balkans and Southeast Asia”. If you have thought about joining Model UN there is still time! Join us for our last conference of the year! Please see Ms. DiSepio or Ms. Hurt by Thursday.

All of us want Arapahoe to be a safe, drug free campus. So please be aware that anytime during the school day the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office may have canines in the building and in our parking lots. These specially trained dogs are expert at drug detection. Thank you.
What are you doing tomorrow night? I’m going to support my friends and improve my foreign language skills at the choir and orchestra concert at 7:00 in the Arapahoe Theatre, featuring songs in Latin, Kenyan, Croatian, Spanish and English! And it’s free!
Attention National Honor Society members – we are still looking for volunteers for the LPS Foundation Silent Auction on March 14. Please contact Mr. Sale or Ms. Gaffney, by email or in person in the English office, if you are interested. Check the NHS web page for details.

All paperwork and money for the conference is due at this meeting. NO EXCEPTIONS. This is a must attend meeting if you want to go to the state conference. Money & paperwork may be turned in prior to the meeting. See Mr. McMullen if you need a copy of the paperwork and/or more information."

Congratulations to the Winter Percussion Ensemble for placing 1st at their first competition of the year! This took place at Mountain Range HS on Saturday. Arapahoe competed in the prestigious Concert World Class.
Congratulations to the Winter Guard for placing 2nd at Saturday's Air Academy Competition. They scored 74 points in the Scholastic Open Class.
Good luck to all members of the Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble who will be performing tomorrow at Grandview HS in the 2008 State Qualifying Concert Band Festival. The top 24 Colorado high school bands will go on to perform at the April 20-21 State Festival.
Give a HIGH FIVE to members of the Speech and Debate class. They competed at State Qualifiers this weekend and Arapahoe qualified eight students for the State speech and Debate Tournament. These include Nathan Arnold, Will Hea, Irene Lahana, Alyse White, Ben Horblit, Liana Boraas, Alexa Ankele, and Madeline Favre Our alternates include Shamita Punjabi, Amanda Noel, Ashley McCulloch, Bobby Bloom, Emily Haskins. Wish us luck March 14 and 15!
