December 7, 2012

General Announcements

Today, December 7, all US flags at federal, state and public facilities in the United States will be flown at half-staff, in commemoration of the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. This historic day allows us as Americans to remember the infamous attack by Japanese forces on the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, as well as celebrate the valor and dedication shown by a brave generation of Americans during World War II. December 7, 1941, according to US Navy Chief Admiral Michael G. Mullen, was "not just a day of infamy, but in many ways it was a day of discovery for America and for the world. It changed us, it hurt us, but it also made us stronger, as did September 11.

HO! HO! HO!  We are so close to our goal of 1000 toys!  Way to go Warriors!   We are still accepting toys in  the  Attendance Office.  We truly appreciate all of your contributions and so will the kids at Colfax Elementary and the Denver Indian Center.  The Wrapping Party will be held Monday, Dec. 10, right after school in the cafeteria.  Please come help wrap and get the toys ready for delivery.

Attention Warriors -- You will receive your 2nd Semester Schedules in your 3rd hour class on Monday, December 10th.  Please see Mrs. Flinders in the Guidance Center if you do not have a 3rd hour class on Monday.  Schedule adjustments can be made for academic misplacement.  Please see your counselor during your unscheduled hours.  The schedule adjustment period will run from December 10th-14th and December 17th-21st.

Here’s an important reminder to new members of National Honor Society: Our induction ceremony is Monday night at 7:00!  Our mandatory dress rehearsal is after school at 2:30 in the theater, and it will last approximately an hour.  Then you will need to be back in the theater between 6:30 and 6:45 for this important event.
For current members of National Honor Society, we do not have any more meetings this semester, but your service logs are due before the end of the semester.  Please just drop off your completed service log at Mr. Smith's desk in the science office, sometime before the end of the semester.  Thank you.

Congratulations to Elliana Streifer, winner of the second Chipotle card giveaway for submitting to the Muse! Elliana, see Mr. Miles in the English office to collect your card.  Writers, keep submitting!
We are WAY behind on writing submissions, so send us your writing by December 17th to get into this year's MUSE magazine!

Hello Warriors, it’s time for the monthly survey for the Arapahoe Herald! This month we’re covering academic cheating, and we want to hear your opinion. Please take our survey to help contribute to the issue! Your responses would be greatly appreciated! Check your school email or the link on the AHS webpage.

Athletics

Do you have a hidden talent you would like to present to your fellow Warriors?  Mr. Sisler is the Master of Ceremonies for all home basketball game half-time performances.  If interested in being a part of any of these events, please see Mr. Sisler in the Athletic Office.  It's a Great Day to be a Warrior!

Congratulations to the Warrior Wrestling Teams! All levels defeated the Grandview Wolves in Centennial League action last night. The Varsity won a close dual meet, 40-39. Great job Warriors!

The JV girls basketball team got another win last night against Rock Canyon with a final score of 44-31 in a very aggressive game.  Their defensive press once again worked well creating turnovers for some quick baskets to get them up quickly to start and then they kept the lead from that point on until the final buzzer.   They are 2-0 in their tournament this week so far with their last game this Saturday against Thunder Ridge at Rock Canyon High School at 2:00.  This latest win puts their overall record at 3-0.  Congratulations on a great start to your season!!

For further details on any announcements see the Arapahoe web site.
Warriors always take care of one another.
