General Announcements 

Attention All Junior and Seniors: The 2019 trip to Washington DC is here again! This trip is an amazing opportunity to experience Washington DC and Capitol Hill first hand. If you are interested in learning more, please come to the student interest meeting tomorrow, Tuesday September 25th at 7:55 am in room C1436. Bring a friend and talk to Mrs. Winn in the Social Studies department if you have any questions!

Key Club will have a quick meeting in the Forum starting at 3:45 today, then join us for an ice cream social outside right after! Senior National Honor Society Members! Our first meeting of the year will be this Thursday, 9/27 at 3:40pm in the forum. See you then!

Two weeks from today, the Counseling Department and Post Grad Center will host Financial Aid Night at 6:00 PM in the theater. Learn about saving money by applying for both federal and institutional aid! Juniors (and interested sophomores) registration for PSAT is now open! Come to the Counseling Department and sign up with Mrs. Ives. The cost for the PSAT is $20. Payment can be by cash or check, made out to AHS. Registration is open until Oct. 3rd. The PSAT test will be happening Wednesday morning, Oct. 10th. We are encouraging every junior to take this test. The PSAT is the only exam to qualify a student for National Merit Scholar Status, when taken during junior year.

Are you tired of working hard? Well it’s time to come play hard at the annual DECA dodgeball tournament. This year’s tournament will take place on October 24th from 6 to 9 pm. Registration is open now. Stop by the Business Office to pick up a registration packet, teams must consist of 5 boys and 5 girls. Only the first 20 teams to register will make it in the tournament.

Attention Juniors and Seniors - Have you taken 3 business classes? If so, stop by the business department to get an application for the National Business Honor Society today. Applications for the fall semester are due TOMORROW!

FBLA will have their second meeting this Wednesday in the forum. Come to the meeting to earn lettering points and participate in the annual FBLA Scavenger Hunt.

Athletics 

JV Gold boys tennis took first place overall at the Chatfield V2 tournament over the weekend. Brandt Payne and Luke Daharb were one of 4 doubles teams to take first place to clinch the title!

Congrats to the Varsity softball team for picking up 2 wins this weekend. On Friday, the Lady Warriors defeated Regis in a close game. On Saturday, the Lady Warriors defeated Smoky Hill 5 to 3. This brings our current record to 13 wins and 4 losses. We are back in action today against Overland. Good Luck Ladies. Keep the wins coming!

AHS Cheerleading is selling tickets for their fundraiser night with the Denver Nuggets. Join in on the fun on Saturday, November 3rd, as the Nuggets take on the Utah Jazz at the Pepsi Center. When you purchase through AHS Cheer, your ticket is discounted and a portion of each ticket sold goes back to the AHS Cheerleading Program. Lower level tickets are being sold for $45, and upper level tickets are being sold for $29. Order tickets online by using the link on the AHS Cheerleading social media accounts, or by the link posted on the flyers around school. Ask an AHS Cheerleader for help if you need further information!

Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams on some tough running at the Dave Sanders Invite on Friday. Out of 21 division 1 schools, the boys varsity and jv both came in 5th place, and the boys open team came in 3rd. The girls varsity came in 9th, and both the girls jv and open teams were 5th overall. Great job Warrior runners!
