General Announcements

Feeling sleepy? Why don’t you sleep in tomorrow!! This is a reminder that tomorrow – February 6th is a PLC Day. Classes will begin at 9:21!! So enjoy those extra hours of sleep.

This Thursday, Feb. 7th the library will be closed until 5th hour. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Fbla’s testing will not start until Wednesday February 6. The testing window is now February 6 through February 14th. Note the date change. If you have any questions please stop by the business office and see Mrs. Swank

Heart health trivia for today: The heart is a hollow, muscular organ that is roughly the size of a man's fist, averaging approximately 5 inches in length, 3.5 inches in width, and 2.5 inches in thickness. It weighs about 10.5 ounces in the male and 8.75 ounces in the female.

"The next General TSA meeting will be this Wednesday, Feb 6th at 2:25 in room E10, time to sign up for events for the upcoming State TSA conference. If you haven't picked up an information packet for this conference, they will be available at this meeting. See Mr. McMullen for information."

Person 1: Hey, do you know how many scientists were onboard each space capsule launched during NASA’s Gemini Space Program?
Person 2: No, I don’t!
Person 1: Yeah, you do! You learned it in fifth grade!
Person 2: ….No I didn’t.
Person 1: Well maybe our teachers know! You should come watch them take eachother on with a team of fifth grade students in Arapahoe’s “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader”. It’s part of the LINK sponsored Teacher Talent Show this year!
Person 2: Oh yeah! It’s on Thursday, Februrary 7th, at 7pm in the auditorium! We can go watch teachers doing some really funny and talented performances that night too! Should I buy tickets at the door or during lunch?
Person 1: Either way is fine as long as you bring $5. Oh and, you should take notes during the talent show. I think you need a refresher on your 5th grade science.

Tonight is the big night! Come learn to dance salsa with the Spanish Club at the Rio Grande restaurant by Park Meadows Mall this evening at 7 p.m. All are welcome!

You’re all invited to the Annual LPS Showcase at the Powell Middle School Cafetorium tomorrow evening. All the middle and high school jazz bands will be performing from 5:30 until 8:10pm. It’s free! Our Jazz II Band will perform at 5:30pm, and our top jazz band, Jazz I, will perform at 7:35pm. Come and enjoy some great jazz tomorrow night at Powell!

Attention Seniors: If you have not ordered your graduation announcements please pick up an order form from Mrs. Sisler in the Guidance office or in the main office.


Athletics

Attention ALL female athletes at AHS. You are all invited to attend the Girls Varsity Basketball Game on Tuesday Feb. 12th at 7pm. At this game we will recognize all of our female athletes in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. FREE ADMISSION for all female athletes on Feb. 12th at the girls varsity basketball game. We hope you can make it and be recognized for your participation in sport at Arapahoe High School.

Amy Van Dyken, a 6 time Olympic Gold Medalist will be here at AHS on Saturday, February 9th. She will be speaking to all of our female swimmers and fans at 1pm in the pool in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Come and meet Olympic gold medalist Amy Van Dyken on Feb. 9th at 1pm in the swimming pool. Good luck to the lady warriors at the A League Swim Meet!

Spring Sports Registration will take place next week from Tuesday thru Thursday after school in Room S4. Please stop by the Athletic Office and pick up your paperwork to be completed and returned the day of your sports registration.

Arapahoe's basketball team will play Ponderosa at home tonight. Please come and support your team. We greatly benefit from your cheers! One student will take home a cookie bouquet and another will get a coupon for a free 12 ounce dairy queen. See you tonight.

The Remember Club asks you to buckle up and take care of one another.
