General Announcements

Homecoming is over so Warriors it is time to get down to business! Come join FCCLA today for the announcement of our new officer team, the unveiling of our year long community service project, and plans for upcoming FCCLA events. New members are always welcome so grab your friends and join us in room E2 after school today! See you there warriors!

Please take the time to check the Library Overdue lists located on the bulletin boards in the north and south hallways and in the library. Check periodically to make sure that you don’t have a fine or overdue book. These lists are updated weekly. Thanks Warriors!

Link Crew is collecting any used cell phones for the Recycle and Reward program, which raises money to send to the troops overseas. Drop off phones on the counter in the English Dept. today through Friday, September 25th.

Hey students, come see your fellow classmates perform their incredible talents. Tickets to the Fall Talent show are on sale in the cafeteria through tomorrow for $5.00. Sales will help support this year’s Prom! The show is in the AHS Theater on Tuesday, September 22nd at 5 and 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!

Attention all Junior and Senior Athletes: There will be a lunch meeting during either 1st or 2nd lunch this Thursday, September 24 in the forum for those athletes who are considering playing inter-collegiate sports. We will discuss recruiting, the NCAA Clearinghouse and much more as you prepare academically and athletically for the college level of your sport. Bring a pen and paper and we will provide handouts as well.

Seniors, are you interested in attending one of the United States Military Academies? If you live in the 7th Congressional District, you need to complete an academy application from Congressman Perlmutter. All applications are due by September 25. Come to the Guidance Office to pick up an application.

Hey Dodgeball Players. Registration packets are available in the Business Office. Don’t delay, get your packet today. Only the first 20 teams to register will be allowed to participate in the 2009 DECA Disco Dodgeball tournament.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers. By buckling up every time, we can reduce this number drastically. Student Council and the Remember Campaign ask you to buckle up and take care of one another.


Athletics

Our boys and girls cross country teams competed at Heritage's Liberty Bell Invite last Friday. The AHS Boys’ 5K school record, set in 1991, was broken by two runners. Junior Connor Winter ran a 15:21 and senior Jason Kearns ran a 15:38. Freshman Gerry Goldy broke the school's freshman record with a time of 16:56. The JV girls came in first place. This Thursday we will be in Colorado Springs to compete at the Coronado Invite.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Football team for their convincing 37-7 victory over Overland high school on Saturday here at AHS. The win pushes the Freshmen to an undefeated 3-0 mark. The victory was once again a total team effort. Thanks to all of our fans that came out and gave their support to the team. Our next is this Thursday afternoon at ThunderRidge High school @ 4:00. We could really use your support at that game, see you there!

The Boys’ Varsity Tennis team brought home some sweet hardware which is on display in the main office. The Warriors took 1st Place at the Smoky Hill Invite this weekend. Cole Conley took 2nd place, Ky Kocur took 3rd place and the doubles teams of Matt and Paul Friedrich, Van Becker and Jeff Craig, Mike Schmidt and Luke Zafferani, Tyler Gahm and Mitch Lueders all took 1st Place! Congratulations guys. This is a reminder that the JV1 team and all the varsity alternates have a match today after school against Kent Denver. Also, the varsity team will be practicing at Powell today beginning at 3:15.

Congrats to the Varsity Volleyball team for their successful showing in this weekend's Eaglecrest Invitational Tournament. The Warriors won the silver division and went 4-1 for the day. They improve to 7-2 overall and take on Smoky Hill at home tomorrow night. We're excited to be back in our gym and look forward to our awesome crowd! The game starts at 6:15!

The Arapahoe Girls Lacrosse Club will be having their informational meeting Wed. September 23 beginning at 7pm in the Forum. All current players, girls interested in playing and parents need to attend. Registration materials will be given to all players at this meeting.
