The Library proudly announces the winners of the Halloween Candy Counting Contest as follows:
With a guess of 613, Freshman Madison Slater missed the total M&M’s in the student jar by only 3!
First year teacher at Arapahoe, Kimberly Schneider was off by only 8 with a guess of 586 for the staff jar. The winners can stop by the Library today and collect their yummy prize. Thanks to everyone who participated in the fun-filled contest. Have a great Halloween!!!
Attention anyone interested in taking Sports Medicine: You must sign-up for an interview with Mrs. Bradley in the women’s Physical Education office. Your schedule must be signed by Mrs. Bradley in order for you to take the class.

If you signed up to do background checks during one of the sessions, please remember to show up for your duty. See Kit Kramer or Mr. Sale with any questions about service duty or providing snacks. Come compete against other metro high schools in the math quiz bowl and take the test where the top 10 scores receive a scholarship to CSU. Talk to your math teacher to pick up a permission slip. Your permission forms for the competition are due today, Oct. 31. Please see Mrs. Lobser if you have questions.
Attention sophomores! You can register for the PLAN test in the Guidance Office at the Post Grad Center until November 2, 2005. The cost is $20.00. The test is on Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Arapahoe High School.

All students attending the Alive at 25 field trip on November 1st must meet at the south cafeteria entrance by the DECA store BY 7:15am on Tuesday, November 1st. Again, you must be there for attendance by 7:15am. Don’t forget to bring a lunch.
LPS is participating in the Net Day Speak Up 2005 event. Net Day, a national, education technology non-profit organization and Littleton Public Schools invites students to take part in an online survey during the 2005 Speak Up Event. Littleton Public Schools is participating in the online survey to contribute to the national discussion and because we will have access to our aggregated school data. LPS will use this data to inform technology decisions and purchases, to learn how to best provide instruction to today's tech-savvy students, to plan for teacher training, and to stimulate discussion about key technology issues in our community. To participate, click on the link on the AHS Start Page or the AHS Web Page and follow the directions. The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.

Attention boy’s varsity soccer players. Uniform check-in will be this Thursday at 2:30 in Room C-7.
Any freshmen boys that are interested in trying out for basketball this year, there will be an open gym this Tuesday and Thursday right after school from 2:30 – 4:00 in the main gym. Come ready to play. Official try-outs for the freshman teams will be after freshman football ends.
All sophomore boys interested in playing basketball this year need to be in the gym at 5 pm starting on Tuesday November 1st, ready to practice. Practices this week will be at 5 pm Tuesday through Friday.
AHS Special Olympics Basketball team is looking for partners to play on the team. Practices are on Monday nights from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Arapahoe. Practices start in November and the season runs through the end of February. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Pepe in room S6 to sign up.

Congratulations to our Varsity and J.V. Cheers who competed in the UCA Regional Competition on Saturday. Varsity placed 2nd and J.V. took 1st place in their divisions.
Please come out and support them as they compete in U.C.A. Regional on November 12 at Englewood High School.

Warriors! October 31st is nearly here. As you prepare your creative and ghostly costumes, there are a few reminders that we have for you with regard to making them appropriate for the school day. First, follow all guidelines in the Student Handbook regarding Student Dress Code. Second, you may not wear any masks. And, finally, your costumes may not contain any weapons or anything resembling a weapon. If you are unclear on any of these guidelines, please come to the office prior to Monday’s celebration.

“Ghostly Sweets for the Holiday” Contest
I was working in the library late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my biology from the table began to rise
And suddenly, to my surprise…
Take a break from all the “ghooling” madness of the holiday season and come check out the Library. In addition to having all the materials and studying tools you need to get ready for all of your “beastly” projects, we are sponsoring a holiday contest for all students! Come check out the jar of goodies located at the Circulation counter and make your best guess. The prize for the closest guess is the jar of goodies of course! The lucky winner will be announced on Monday, October 31st (Igor not included).

Congratulations to the Warrior Marching Band for performing to the level of State Champion Runners-Up yesterday!!! This is a first for Arapahoe High School!!!! The band scored a superior, box 5 - 90 points, 14 points higher than last year! Box 5 scores haven’t been seen in Colorado for 4 years!! No band has gotten this close to 10 time state champion, Pomona, for 4 years!!! Congratulations to the Arapahoe Percussion Section for placing 1st out of all 4A and 5A drumlines in the state with 92 points!! The Color Guard placed 3rd in the state with a superior, box 5, 91 points!!! The Warrior Marching Band got box 5, superior, scores in both, music and visual general effect!!!! The band would like to thank each of you for your tremendous support throughout their 2005 competitive season. Way to go Warrior Marching Band!!!!!

In addition to having all the materials and studying tools you need to get ready for all of your “beastly” projects, we are sponsoring a holiday contest for all students! Come check out the jar of goodies located at the Circulation counter and make your best guess. The prize for the closest guess is the jar of goodies of course! Congratulations to the Warrior Marching Band for performing to the level of State Champion Runners-Up yesterday!!! This is a first for Arapahoe High School!!!! The band scored a superior, box 5 - 90 points, 14 points higher than last year! Box 5 scores haven’t been seen in Colorado for 4 years!! No band has gotten this close to 10 time state champion, Pomona, for 4 years!!! Congratulations to the Arapahoe Percussion Section for placing 1st out of all 4A and 5A drumlines in the state with 92 points!! The Color Guard placed 3rd in the state with a superior, box 5, 91 points!!! The Warrior Marching Band got box 5, superior, scores in both, music and visual general effect!!!! The band would like to thank each of you for your tremendous support throughout their 2005 competitive season. Way to go Warrior Marching Band!!!!!

General Announcements
Congratulations to all members of the Warrior Marching Band who performed in yesterday’s Pikes Peak March of Champions. Arapahoe placed 1st, and was best in every caption at the contest! The Warrior Band also won best Drum Major and best Color Guard!! What a terrific season this has been with the band placing no lower than second at any competition throughout the year!!! The band would like to invite you to support them in their quest for an Arapahoe First-Ever State Marching Band Championship. Please come out and cheer them on at Invesco Field at Mile High this Sunday!! Arapahoe’s Semi-Finals performance time will be 3:30 or 4:00pm. The Warrior Band will perform in Finals at approximately 9:15pm. Good luck Warrior Band!!!!!
Thank you all for coming to the second annual teacher talent show last night. A big congratulation goes out to Mr. Weibe and Ms. Durow from the Science department for winning the Teacher Fear Factor Challenge.
Congratulations to the following softball players for their selection to this year’s all league team: Honorable mention selection was: Carrie Rubida, Danielle Archuleta, Carly Hall, Suzanne Chang, Megan Janes and Sarah Babbitt. For only the second time in school history, a player was selected to the First Team All League and that player is Allison Braverman. Way to go ladies!

The boys Varsity soccer team defeated Regis last night by a score of 3 – 1. Scoring for ABK was: Keegan Bast, Chris Madigan and Jeremy Hayes. Gary Cole tallied the only assist.

Congratulations to all members of the Warrior Marching Band for being named Grand Champion of the 2005 CSU Marching Band Showcase on Saturday!! Arapahoe placed 1st out of 24 bands in competition throughout the day. The Color Guard won the best Color Guard Trophy and Arapahoe placed first in every caption, totaling a school record 89 points!!! The Percussion Section also placed first at the competition. Way to go Warrior Marching Band!!!!

Athletics-
This past Saturday the Girls’ varsity softball team defeated Stanley Lake 1 to nothing in its quarterfinals district game. The lady warriors were lead by the shut-out pitching of Danielle Archuleta, the triple by Carly Hall and the RBI by Megan Janes. Unfortunately the team was defeated in the semifinals game, but was one of only seven teams from the Continental league to make it that far in the play-offs. Congratulations lady on having such a wonderful season. A reminder to turn in uniforms today right after school.
The boy’s varsity tennis team will be sending one player to the state tennis tournament this year. At #1 singles, Erik Johnson survived four grueling matches last Friday at the regional tournament to take 3rd place and earn a berth to the state tournament. Erik's last match of the day went to three sets against a tough Heritage player. After being down, 5-2 in the third set, Erik fought back, winning the next 5 games in a row to take the match. The number 3 doubles team of Brian Craig and Jeff Maxey took 4th place. Congratulations guys and good luck to Erik at State.

Congratulations to all members of the Warrior Marching Band for being named Grand Champion of the 2005 CSU Marching Band Showcase on Saturday!! Arapahoe placed 1st out of 24 bands in competition throughout the day. The Color Guard won the best Color Guard Trophy and Arapahoe placed first in every caption, totaling a school record 89 points!!! The Percussion Section also placed first at the competition. Way to go Warrior Marching Band!!!!

Check the locker numbers posted outside the door of all locker rooms to see if yours is one of them. Athletics-
This past Saturday the Girls’ varsity softball team defeated Stanley Lake 1 to nothing in its quarterfinals district game. The lady warriors were lead by the shut-out pitching of Danielle Archuleta, the triple by Carly Hall and the RBI by Megan Janes. Unfortunately the team was defeated in the semifinals game, but was one of only seven teams from the Continental league to make it that far in the play-offs. Congratulations lady on having such a wonderful season. A reminder to turn in uniforms today right after school.

Rebel Without a Cause tickets on sale all this week in the lunch room. Show dates are today, and Saturday and the curtain goes up a 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5.00. Don't miss it.

With defensive moves, and quickness like cats the 3rd hour Marketing team swept the DECA Dodgeball Tournament on Wednesday night. Broc Ericson, Kim Goodwin, Tyler Bowman, Graham Silver, Wes Verno, and MVP Evan Sherman used years of dodgeball experience to out play their opponents!
The boys Varsity soccer team defeated Highlands Ranch yesterday 4 – 0. Scoring for ABK were: Will Kingery, Connor Talbert, Chris Carry and Connor Martin. Assists were given by Jeremy Hayes.
Congratulations to the Warrior Volleyball program with another sweep against Regis. The Freshman A, Sophmore, and Junior Varsity all won in 2 games and Varsity won in 3 games. Great job, Warrior Volleyball
Attention all Arapahoe boy’s and girl’s swimmers and divers. This Saturday there will be a picnic at 1:00 PM. Seniors need to be at DeKovend Park, shelter C, by 12:30 PM. See Coach Richmond or Coach Sullivan if you have any questions.
