General Announcements

As promised, we would like to announce the winners for both the student and staff Halloween candy jars.
The winner of the student candy jar located in the library is….senior Andrew Thompson with a correct guess of 79. Andrew, please come down to the library and pickup your candy jar when you have a free hour!
The winner of the staff candy jar is campus security ninja, Christina Kolk. The jar contained 88 pieces of candy and Christina guessed 87! Christina, come down to the library and pick up your candy jar!

Congratulations to your Freshmen BIG SIX League champions for their impressive win last night against Chatfield, 44-7. The win cinched the championship for your warriors and moved their record to 8-1. Great job guys!

Are you interested in auditioning for our award winning Warrior Winter Guard? Last year the Winter Guard placed 1st in the State! This year the Winter Guard will be traveling to make their debut at Nationals Competition. The first practice and tryout for new students is Monday November 1st from 3-7pm in the Aux Gym. Both camps will be held daily and a camp schedule will be handed out the first night of each camp.

Hey Warriors! The Winter Sports season is just around the corner. Registration for Girls’ Swimming, Boys & Girls Basketball and Wrestling will take place next week! Girls Swim and Dive Registration will take place on Tuesday, November 2nd from 10:30 am – 12:10 pm in the Cafeteria and then again at 2:30 pm in Classroom S4. Boys and Girls Basketball will register on Wednesday, November 3rd. Wrestlers will register on Thursday, November 4th. Make sure to stop by the Athletic Office to pick up your registration paperwork today!

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The 2011 trip to Washington D.C. is here again! This trip is an amazing opportunity to experience Washington D.C. and Capitol Hill first hand.
There will be a parent/guardian meeting for those interested in this trip tonight, October 28th at 6 PM in the Forum. Please feel free to join your parent or guardian, and if you are unable to attend the meeting, please see Mr. Hawthorne or Mr. Myer in the Social Studies department.

The event you’ve all been waiting for is FINALY here…DIFA DECA Dodgeball is tonight! The tournament starts at 6pm and will take place in both gyms. For ONLY $2 you can come support your favorite country in Arapahoe’s World Cup of Dodgeball!

Thanks to all of the chemistry students who made Mole Day a HUGE success. Hundreds of students arrived by 6:02am Friday morning to compete or cheer on their class teams in a MOLE-titude of events. Congratulations to this year’s grand champions, Mrs. Mann's 3rd period class.

Congratulations to the Warrior Band and Color Guard for an outstanding performance at the state championships last Saturday at the Air Force Academy. The Band and Color Guard played their best show of the season and earned the fifth place award.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Football team for their exciting win over Mullen 44-40 on Saturday here at Arapahoe. The win moves the Freshmen record to 7 and 1 and positioned the team to win the first Big Six Freshmen league championship with a win this Thursday against Chatfield at Chatfield at 4:00 PM. Thanks to all of you that came out and supported the team on Saturday. Please come over to Chatfield on Thursday and make it our home field.

General Announcements
Your Google Apps accounts will be upgraded this Friday evening (and into Saturday). This upgrade will give you access to almost all of the Google tools, including Blogger, Reader and Picasa, using your LPS Google Apps login. Congratulations to both girls and boys cross country for qualifying for State yesterday at Regionals in Aurora! The boys placed third and were led by junior Chris Davis. Girls had almost a perfect score and finished first, led by junior Colleen Koenig. The state meet is next Saturday, October 30 at the Aurora Reservoir. Come out and cheer on the cross country team as they compete for the state title!!!

Congratulations to the sophomore volleyball team for their outstanding season. The team finished with 15 wins to only 4 losses and finished second in the Centennial League with a 6 and 1 league record. Great season Sophomores!

Your Google Apps accounts will be upgraded this Friday evening (and into Saturday). This upgrade will give you access to almost all of the Google tools, including Blogger, Reader and Picasa, using your LPS Google Apps login. As part of this transition, please do not try to login to your Google Apps accounts between 9:30 pm on Friday until 10:00 pm on Saturday. Please see the AHS website for more details.

Did you know that a mole of sugar molecules will only make 55 marshmallows, BUT a mole of marshmallows would cover the United States to a depth of 776 miles! Hey chemistry students, don’t forget that Mole Day is this Friday and you need to be here by 5:55 am to be counted. See you in the main gym, it'll be a BLAST.

Attention International Thespian Society members: there is a MANDATORY meeting for any of the students attending the Colorado State Thespian Conference, on Thursday, October 21 after school at 2:30 in the theatre. Congrats to the freshman, sophomore, jv, and varsity volleyball teams for the sweep against Smoky Hill last night. The Warriors last home game of the season is tomorrow night against Cherry Creek. Please come out and help cheer the teams on to victory. Games are at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:15.

Congrats to both the Varsity and Junior varsity Boys soccer teams who completed their league schedules with victories over Cherokee Trail yesterday. The JV team won by a score of 3 – 0 and the Varsity by a score of 5 – 0. Great job ABK.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Cheer teams for their outstanding performances at the AmeriCheer Competitions held at Chaparral High School on Saturday, October 16th. Both the Varsity and JV teams finished first in their division. The varsity team went on to also earn first place as the High Point Champion. To wrap up their amazing competition the varsity squad also came home with the Grand Champion Cheer Overall award. Congratulations again to both teams!

Congratulations to the Warrior Band and Color Guard on a very strong performance at the 5A Metro Regionals last Thursday. The Warrior Band and Color Guard placed third and are among the top 5 in the state rankings. As a result, the Warrior Band and Color Guard will be in semi-finals this Saturday at the Air Force Academy.

Congrats to the varsity girls cross country team who WON the League meet on Thursday! Girls open and JV placed second, boys JV and open placed 2nd, boys varsity 3rd. Congrats on a great season, Cross Country, and good luck to varsity at Regionals this Thursday at the Aurora Sports Complex! Come out and cheer on the team in Aurora!

The band wishes to thank the members of the football team for their participation in the pizza eating contest last night at Boston’s Gourmet Pizza. All competitors did well, and Trevor Ault from the band took top honors.

All PSAT test takers need to be here on October 13th @ 7:15 to take the PSAT! Remember to bring two # 2 pencils with erasers, calculator, admission ticket and school ID. For 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders who aren’t taking the PSAT test, school starts at 11 o’clock on October 13th, buses will run normally. If you arrive early you can go to the cafeteria, please remember that others are testing and we need to be quiet. Thanks Warriors!

Jump in with the AHS Jump Rope Club! Great for conditioning for any sport and for learning amazing tricks. Double-Dutch, Single Rope, and Speed Jumping; how fast can your feet move? Come to the Study Center on Thursday, October 7th at 3:30 for the first practice.

General Announcements
Attention current members of National Honor Society. We have a short meeting today at 2:25 in the forum. Please come to find out what’s going on in the world of NHS!

For eligible juniors and seniors interested in applying for new membership to National Honor Society, remember that there are informational meetings going on this week. Either attend after school today or tomorrow in room W-103, or tomorrow morning at 6:55 in room C-9, to learn about the club and the application process. Remember that these meetings are only for eligible juniors and seniors, so if you are unsure whether you are eligible, please contact Mr. Smith in the science office or Ms. Leclaire in the language arts office.

Save the Date – Sunday, Oct. 24th for the 15th Annual Stride. Join your fellow students and staff in either a 5k or 10k race through the streets of Littleton. We have been challenged to win the School Competition, so we need to have as many participants as possible to join the Arapahoe team. If our school has the largest percentage of participants we win $1000.00. Register at www.RunTheStride.com or with an AHS PE Teacher.

Jump in with the AHS Jump Rope Club! Great for conditioning for any sport and for learning amazing tricks. Double-Dutch, Single Rope, and Speed Jumping; how fast can your feet move? Come to the Study Center on Thursday, October 7th at 3:30 for the first practice.

French Club will meet today in C1 immediately after school for a short organizational meeting. See Chand Jiwani, AnnaSophia Robb or the Activities Office with questions.

The next TSA meeting will be this Thursday, Oct 7 at 2:25 in room E6. Please bring your membership dues on or before this meeting to get credit for 1st week payment! If you haven’t turned in your officer application form, please get it to Mr. McMullen today, or tomorrow. See you Thursday!

Congratulations to the Warrior Band and Color Guard on outstanding performances at the Pomona Band Festival last Saturday. Our Warrior band and Color Guard was the only band that moved up at all in finals competition and finished 7th overall in this prestigious event. The Warrior Band and Color Guard are now ranked fifth in state 5A Competition going into this Saturday’s Legacy Festival.

Hey Arapahoe, CHSAA has once again challenged the volleyball teams in the state to host a Think Pink Match for breast cancer. Our match is tomorrow night at Grandview. We would like to have you come to the game and support the team, but here are some other ways you can get involved... Please wear PINK to school tomorrow! This week Monday through Friday, pink bracelets and cookies are available for $1.00. All proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research. Thanks again for your support!

Congratulations to the Varsity Warrior football team for their 27-6 win over Heritage!
Great “black out” spirit shown by fans, parents, staff, band, cheer, toms and all the Warrior supporters.

Congratulations to the still undefeated freshmen football team for a very hard fought victory Saturday over Heritage 22 -20. The entire team deserves credit for the come from behind win. The win pushes the freshmen team record to 5-0 with their next game this Thursday at 4:00 PM at Bear Creek.

Congratulations to the golfers who won the Traditional HAL cup trophy vs. Heritage and Littleton. Good Luck to Adam Jones and Taylor Motsinger in the state tournament today and tomorrow.

The “BLACK OUT” is here! If you don’t have your shirt yet, you can still get it today in the cafeteria near the Food Store. Come at lunch today and get your FREE “ARAPAHOE WARRIOR” BLACK OUT SHIRT. Tonight the football team will be dressed in all black, and if all Warriors wear black we will have an inspiring edge with our “Black Out”! GO WARRIORS!

Hey Warriors! The biggest football game of the year is taking place at Littleton Public Stadium tonight! Your Arapahoe Warriors take on Heritage at 7:00 pm. We need everyone to come out and cheer for the black and gold! Tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria during both lunches today. Adult tickets are $5 and students with no SBA card will need to purchase a ticket for only $3. Let’s bring home the BrookRidge trophy

Attention all freshmen! This Saturday your undefeated freshmen football team will be taking on Heritage at 9am at the Arapahoe football field and Link Crew will be hosting a tailgate party! Free bagels, donuts, hot chocolate and coffee will be provided, so come out and cheer on the football team with your Link Leaders and friends! This event is free, and it should be a great time!

Good luck to the Warrior Marching Band and Color Guard as they represent our high school at the prestigious Pomona High School Invitational this Saturday. The band performs at 2:30pm at NAAC Stadium in Arvada

Come on out to Columbine’s Dave Sanders Cross Country Invitational today to cheer on Arapahoe! There will be great competition as runners race against 21 teams in the division, including Heritage, Cherry Creek, and Highlands Ranch! The meet is at Clement Park by Columbine High School. The Varsity boys begin at 3:00 and Varsity girls at 4:30. Good luck Warriors and run fast!!!
