General Announcements

Hello Warriors!  We are extremely proud to announce the names of the semi finalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.  These students are honored for their outstanding performance on the 2013 PSAT which they took last October.  The semi finalists are:  Zoey Huey, Robert Mayer, and Sanjay Patil.  If you see these seniors in class or in the halls, please congratulate them.  Great job Warriors!

Hey Arapahoe Students! Want an invitation to help make creativity happen?   Well here it is, join MUSE- Arapahoe’s only student-made literary and art magazine that you can submit your stories, poems and artwork to!  Our first meeting is today, September17th in C17 starting at 2:30 after school. We’ll play games, have sugar cookies, and discuss choosing boards, club t-shirts, and the club group picture!  For details about submission, please visit the Arapahoe webpage, under Activities and click on the MUSE webpage.  See you today after school in C-17!

Seniors . . . it's that time already! Time to order your graduation announcements! Packets for graduation announcements are available in the Main Office and the Guidance Office.  Orders will be taken next week so pick up your packet today!

If you or your parents ordered pictures at schedule pick up in August, please pick them up during lunch tomorrow, Friday, or Monday, September 22nd on the south side of the cafeteria.  Students can also check at the Attendance Office during an unscheduled period.

It's time for the monthly Arapahoe Herald survey! This month's survey focuses on the similarities and differences between underclassmen and upperclassmen.  The link to the survey has been sent to your LPS email account. Please complete the survey by this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Results will be printed in the issue of the Herald distributed on Monday, September 22nd

Attention all juniors and seniors.  Have you taken three business classes?  If so, stop by the Business Department and pick up an application for the National Business Honor Society!  Applications are due by next Monday, September 22nd.

Lunch today is lasagna w/ Italian bread, turkey sandwich, hamburger, chicken breast sandwich, chicken strips w/roll, sub sandwich, PB&J, and vanilla yogurt w/blueberry parfait.  Don’t forget we have breakfast every day from 6:45 to 7:30 a.m.  Thursday breakfast will include cinnamon rolls, veggie breakfast burrito, cereal variety, muffin variety, banana and zucchini bread.  All breakfast and lunches must have a fruit or vegetable to count as a meal.  Pizza Hut is here Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  The cost is $2.00 a slice.

Speaking of meals...if you haven't re-applied for free or reduced meals...please do so before September 26th. All applications must be processed before then or your meals will be full cost until you are approved.

Athletics
Congratulations to Captain's Austin Lienemann and David Packer for qualifying for the 2014 CHSAA State Golf Tournament in Colorado Springs. Austin and David tee off on Monday, September 29th, and Tuesday September 30th at the Colorado Springs Country Club. Good luck!
Arapahoe volleyball swept Overland at all four levels last night without dropping a game. Congratulations Warriors! The next home match is against Brighton tonight and an away game Thursday at Cherry Creek. Come cheer on our girls at both games!
Congratulations to the Varsity softball team for their big win against Overland yesterday. Your Lady Warriors defeated the Trailblazers by a score of 24 to 0. The Lady Warriors begin league play tomorrow against Grandview. Come down to deKoevand Park at 4 p.m. to cheer on your Lady Warriors. Good luck ladies!
Your Varsity boys soccer team beat Chatfield yesterday by the score of 2-1. Goals were scored by Mike Chism and Chris Grauberger.
The JV tennis team defeated Overland yesterday winning all 12 matches. The team will have a home match tomorrow against Smoky Hill at Powell Middle School at 3:30. Come over and support the team and their undefeated season!
Attention all boys and girls interested in being part of the Swimming and Diving Team this year.  There will be a meeting tomorrow after school in the Forum.  
The next five open gyms for boys basketball will be after school.  If you are interested in trying out you need to register on the website, under athletics/boys basketball asap.
There will be NCAA/NAIA Compliance Orientation on Tuesday, September 30th during lunches in the Forum for all Juniors and Seniors interested in competing in athletics on the college level .  For more information and to sign up for this meeting, please stop by either the Athletic or Guidance Office.
2015 will be a banner year for the AHS girls lacrosse team, but we need your help.  Join us on Monday, October 6th, from 7:00- 8:15 p.m., for the kick off meeting for all players and parents in the AHS Cafeteria.  We are excited to welcome our Freshman families as well as all returning players!  Our fun and talented Coaches, Stacey Birlson and Carrie Levi, will join us this evening.  All athletes, experienced and inexperienced, are encouraged to come hear about the AHS Girls Lacrosse 2015 plans.  Please bring your friends looking for an exciting team experience!  For more information, please visit the Arapahoe Girls Lacrosse website (http://girls.ahslax.org) or contact Keith Golding at keithlaxcoach@comcast.net.
