General Announcements

As many of you may know, Arapahoe Junior Topher Wallace lost his house last week to a fire. Students and staff may donate to the Wallace Family Rebuilding Fund this week. Please stop by the table in the cafeteria to make your donation.

Attention new National Honor Society members. Remember that your induction ceremony will be Monday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the AHS theater. Also, keep in mind that there is a MANDATORY rehearsal on Monday at 2:30 in the theater. It is important that you be there so you will know your part in the ceremony and make your parents and special guests proud. The rehearsal will take about an hour. Make arrangements now!

Tonight and tomorrow night is the Downtown Denver Parade of Lights! Your Warrior Marching Band was last year’s 1st Place Grand Champion Band, and will be leading this year’s parade!! Don’t miss the Warrior Marching Band’s Performances tonight at 8pm, and tomorrow night at 6pm. If you can’t make it downtown, you can watch the parade live tonight on Channel 9, starting at 8pm. Good luck Warrior Marching Band!!!

Thank you to those who have brought toys for the AHS Toys for Tots Drive! We have 117 toys donated. We need another 883 toys to meet our goal. We have 5 school days to make it happen. Think about shopping this weekend for a child less fortunate and make their holiday special.

Overdue books & library fees $5.00 and over will now be posted in Infinite Campus.

If you would like to go to Fairview Elementary to deliver toys on December 18, please pick up a permission form in the Attendance Office.

Just a reminder that tonight is the Amnesty International presentation on Fair Trade coffee. The cost is $5.00 to attend, coffee and goodies will be served along with a dynamic presentation. The event will be held at Heritage HS in the student center, we hope to see you there.

Fifteen students earned a high enough score on the First Round of the University of Northern Colorado to compete in the Final Round on February 2nd on the Greeley Campus. Congratulations AHS for winning the Broncos Wives Food Drive for the second year in a row. A few of the Bronco players like Brandon Stokley and Daniel Graham, some cheerleaders, and Miles the Mascot will present our award during first lunch today. Special thanks go out to all of Mrs. Parmenter’s choir classes for their generous contributions. We could not have won without their participation. Thanks Parmenter!

Be sure and come to the Annual Downtown Littleton Candlelight Walk this Friday, beginning at 6pm. All the Arapahoe Instrumental Small Ensembles will be performing throughout downtown Littleton, on Main Street. Santa progresses down the center of town starting at 6:30pm. Our brass ensemble will be performing antiphonally by the Town Arts Center as Santa turns on the lights for each downtown block. Then the Brass Ensemble is the featured entertainment at Bradford Auto Body, where free hot apple cider is served! Hope to see you on Friday for an evening of holiday fun!!!

General Announcements

Please welcome 20 teachers from Shanghai, China visiting our school today. These are teachers currently studying at DU through the Center for China United States Cooperation. They will be visiting selected classes during 3rd hour and in the Drama Room during 4th hour. The program, founded by the University of Denver Graduate School of International Studies, serves as a bridge in a search for mutual understanding, the development of prudent policies, and the positive resolution of disputes between Chinese people and American people. Please welcome them to Arapahoe.

Important reminder to all students: Next Tuesday, NOVEMBER 20, 2007, we will be on a Thursday schedule rather than a Tuesday. Please go to your Thursday classes next Tuesday.

FBLA is hosting a toiletry drive for the Gateway Battered Women’s Shelter, which takes in women and their children from Aurora and Arapahoe Counties who have suffered from domestic violence. Please bring in any unused toiletries to the Business Office by November 20th. Thank you.

Hey Warriors! DECA is selling tickets to the CU vs. DU Men’s Basketball game on Nov. 27th. The game starts at 7 pm and will be played at DU’s Magness Arena. Tickets are only $9.00 and can be purchased during both lunches today only. Come support former Warrior Levi Knutson and watch him take his skills to the next level.

It is Sudan Awareness Week

- The UN has denied calling the conflict in Sudan a genocide because it would force military action even though the US has admitted it to be a genocide

Tonight is the night! The third annual Jamnesty concert will be at the Rock House at 6pm. There will be 6 high school bands playing, so come and support your friends and help raise money for our Sudan Awareness Week.

General Announcements

We will have 20 teachers from Shanghai, China visiting our school on Friday. These are teachers currently studying at DU through the Center for China United States Cooperation. They will be visiting selected classes during 3rd hour on Friday, November 16, and in the Drama Room during 4th hour. Our visitors will be hosted by staff members and students. The program, founded by the University of Denver Graduate School of International Studies, serves as a bridge in a search for mutual understanding, the development of prudent policies, and the positive resolution of disputes between Chinese people and American people. Thank you for your support, we look forward to their visit.

Important reminder to all students: Next Tuesday, NOVEMBER 20, 2007, we will be on a Thursday schedule rather than a Tuesday. Please go to your Thursday classes next Tuesday.

Tickets are only $9.00 and can be purchased during both lunches this week only. Come support former Warrior Levi Knutson and watch him take his skills to the next level.

Model United Nations Club will be having a meeting today at 2:30 in C-21. Country assignments and Background Papers will be passed out for the Boulder Conference. If you are interested in participating in the Kent-Denver Conference on January 26th come to the meeting or see Ms. DiSepio or Ms. Hurt.

It is Sudan Awareness Week

- At least 400,000 people have been killed in Sudan since the conflict began in 2003. Think of everyone who lives in this area. Imagine the equivalent of almost everyone in Arapahoe County killed.

Attention all Cici's Lovers- This Friday, November 16th, all day head over to Cici's to support Student Council's ABC's of the Flu Carnival. Cici's will be donating a portion of their profits that day. All you have to do to help is say that you are there to help AHS ABC's Flu Carnival. Thanks for your support!

Student COUNCIL members and officers are all invited to a STUCO social at Cici’s on Friday, at 6pm. Bring some friends! Hope to see a lot of people there to help support the AHS FLU Carnival event.

Congratulations to Mike Marino, Ryan Ferguson and Kelby Berton who participated in their first Model UN debate representing Arapahoe at Cherry Creek High School on Saturday. The delegates were commended by the judges on their strong research and representation of the Russian Federation. Model UN will be having a club meeting on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in C-21 at 2:30 to hand out country assignments for Boulder and also to choose countries for the Kent-Denver competition in January. If you are interested in competing please come to the meeting or see Ms. DiSepio or Ms. Hurt. Also during the meeting MUN will be showing a slide show of their performance from Saturday so don’t miss out!

In honor of Veterans’ Day, November 11th, the Social Studies Department has invited veterans to come speak to Arapahoe students. These veterans are speaking all day long in the Forum, so if you would like to hear their stories or ask them any questions, please stop by the Forum during any of your unscheduled hours today.

Thank you and remember…Sunday, November 11 is Veteran’s Day.

The Model United Nations Club will be participating in it first competition tomorrow at Cherry Creek High School. There will be two delegations from AHS representing the Russian Federation on global warming policy and jurisdiction in the Arctic. Good luck delegates! If you are interested in participating in any future competitions please see Ms. Hurt or Ms. DiSepio.

Calling all NHS members! Do you like to color? If so, join us after the NHS meeting on Wednesday for a fun new service opportunity.
