Athletics
The Arapahoe Varsity Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team soundly defeated Chaparral HS Saturday 15-7.  Playing their best lacrosse of the season, the Warriors scored early and often taking a commanding 11-4 lead at halftime.  Ball movement was impressive resulting in a season best 15 assists!  Equally impressive was controlling 20 of 24 draws.  The second half became a bit physical with too many whistles and yellow cards.  By the end, the girls were playing with 2 girls down but still attacking and playing relentless defense.  Great team effort girls!  With 2 strong wins this week, expect to see this team ranked in the Top 5 again!!  Defensively the Warriors were strong against a typically high scoring Chaparral team.  Holding this team to 7 goals was an excellent effort.  Sam “Brick Wall” Thomson (23 saves, 5 GB) was stellar between the pipes stopping 23 of the opponents 30 shots!  The Warrior defenders laid a blanket over the Wolverines with Carey Kocur (3 GB, 1 Int, 1 DC), Allie Zodrow (1 GB), Kelly Burke (1 GB), Myah Friedman (1 GB), and Cami Goldsberry (2 GB, 2 CT) all contributing to the impressive performance.  Offensively, the Senior captains lead the way with Katherine “Piggy” Steel (5 Goals, 2 GB, 1 CT) rocking the cage with her season best 5 goals.  Kienan Lindhardt (3 Goals, 7 Assists, 4 GB, 2 Int, 2 CT, and 8 DC) finished the day with a team and season best 10 points!  Alexis Linhardt (2 Goals, 2 Assists, 3 GB, 1 CT and 1 DC) contributed with another 4 points.  Tatum “Hustle” Ramsey (1 Assist, 1 GB, 4 DC) was a force on the draw circle taking 16 of the 24 draws with her teammates controlling over 80%.  Also contributing to the win was Frosh Meg Hanson (3 goals, 2 CT, 1 DC), Junior Atlee Witt (2 Goals, 3 Assists, 1 GB, and 1 DC), Frosh Lizzie Pierpont (2 Assists, 1 CT, and 4 DC), Senior Annie Garofalo (1 GB, 1 CT), and Junior Riley Cooke (2 GB).  Our first LPS Stadium game is Friday night against Smoky Hill.  Next week the girls travel to Overland at 4:30 Wednesday and.  Come on out and see some excellent lacrosse!   The girls put on an exciting show!
Come out and support the ABK girls Varsity soccer team in their first conference game against Grandview today at 4:30 at the AHS soccer field.  We look forward to seeing you there!
