General Announcements

Saturday, September 17, is Constitution Day.  In order to recognize and honor the Constitution, schools across the nation join in the celebration.  But since the official day is on a Saturday, we will celebrate today.   Regardless of how one interprets the Constitution and its amendments, regardless of the continuous debate the document creates, regardless of our political affiliations and preferences – the Constitution continues to help hold us together as a nation.  It is the foundation for our stability and efficiency.  While the Constitution helps to anchor our political structures and procedures, it allows for the changes needed to address the new possibilities and issues that have arisen over the 216 years since it was ratified.

Today at Arapahoe, there a few ways we will be celebrating the Constitution.  In the cafeteria, there will be a movie called “A More Perfect Union” running regarding the Constitutional convention and issues.  Further, your social studies classes will be discussion the Constitution in some manner.
Thanks and happy Constitution day.
