General Announcements

Attention National Honor Society Juniors and sophomores with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Please see Mrs. Lobser in the Enrichment Room this week if you are interested in being trained to become an Academic Peer Coach for next year.

Attention all Advanced Placement Students: You must pay for your AP exams by this Friday, April 14th. Also, remember that you must attend one AP Pre-registration session in the Forum on Wednesday or Thursday of this week or next week during first or second lunch. Please bring a #2 pencil.

Congratulations to all 3 of Arapahoe’s Jazz groups, Images, The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs, and Retrospect, for achieving unanimous superior ratings at Friday’s Metro State College’s Jazz Celebrations Festival! A special congratulation to lead trumpeter and flugelhorn soloist, Colton Crandell, for receiving the outstanding musicianship award for our school’s performances!

Beginning in the fall of 2006, Mandarin Chinese I will be offered. It will primarily consist of learning about the culture of China. The speaking portion of the language will be taught at a basic level and will include common expressions and useful dialogues. Basic writing and listening skills will also be addressed. A BIG congratulation goes to the Arapahoe Speech and Debate Club! They participated with full tilt at the National Forensic League national qualifying tournament this past weekend with the following kudos: Maryn Lewallen placed fourth district-wide in Foreign Extemp; Justin Lambert placed fifth district-wide in National Extemp; Shamita Punjabi placed seventh district wide in Humorous Interp. The Arapahoe Speech and Debate team received the revolving Sweepstakes trophy which will be on display in the speech trophy case. Thanks to all of the students who made this trophy possible!

Tickets for "The Sound of Music" will be sold during lunch next to the Guidance office all this week. Don't miss it!

Students who wish to participate on a publication staff, Yearbook, Newspaper or Video, need to submit applications no later than this Friday. Return the applications to the main office or to journalism in room E8. If you did not get an application, there is still time, just pick one up in E8.

FCA for tonight has been cancelled. We will meet next Monday at 6 pm!

Attention NHS members!! The results of Wednesday's election are in. The juniors who will be serving as next year's NHS officers are: Stacie Carter, Katie Grauel, Amy Johnson, Matt Leisy and Jennifer Sneden. Congratulations! Officers will be contacted for an orientation meeting.

Athletics

Attention all girls interested in playing softball next season. There will be a short meeting in room N-5 on Monday April 10th, immediately. If you are unable to attend, please see Coach Fazio in the Special Services office.

With 136.5 points, the Arapahoe Girls Track team won the 16 team Regis Invitational on Saturday for the second straight year. First place finishers were: Michelle Ripple in the pole vault with a school record (again) of 11'4", Jo Walker 300 m. hurdles, 800 m. medley relay with Elese McClaire, Chelsea Chen, Sanneke Neal and Jo Walker, 800 m. relay with Elese McClaire, Carolyn O'Doherty, Chelsea Chen and Sanneke Neal and the 1600 m. Relay with Chelsea Chen, Carolyn O'Doherty, Sanneke Neal and Elese McClaire. Keep up the great work Ladies.

The Boys track and field team placed 4th at the 16 team Regis Raider Invitational. Leading the way for your warriors were first place finishers Adam Glenn in the 400m dash with a time of 50.91, and the 4x400m relay team of Josh Sabey, Adam Glenn, Nick Forest, and Ben Clark. Congratulations to all of the participants and good luck this weekend at the Aurora Invitational. There will be a short meeting for all boy tracksters in room S-14 after school today.
