General Announcements

Attention National Honor Society Juniors and sophomores with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Please see Mrs. Lobser in the Enrichment Room this week if you are interested in being trained to become an Academic Peer Coach for next year.

Beginning in the fall of 2006, Mandarin Chinese I will be offered. It will primarily consist of learning about the culture of China. The speaking portion of the language will be taught at a basic level and will include common expressions and useful dialogues. Basic writing and listening skills will also be addressed. The class will be small and is by audition only. If interested, please contact Mrs. Condon.

Tickets for "The Sound of Music" will be sold during lunch next to the Guidance office all this week. Don't miss it!

Students who wish to participate on a publication staff, Yearbook, Newspaper or Video, you need to submit applications no later than this Friday. Return the applications to the main office or to journalism in room E8. If you did not get an application, there is still time, just pick one up in E8.

Attention NHS members!! The results of Wednesday's election are in. The juniors who will be serving as next year's NHS officers are: Stacie Carter, Katie Grauel, Amy Johnson, Matt Leisy and Jennifer Sneden. Congratulations! Officers will be contacted for an orientation meeting.

Seniors: The scholarship you have been waiting for and asking about is NOW available. The JEM scholarship application is available in the Post Grad Center. Return completed application to Mrs. Brady in the Guidance Center by deadline date of Friday, May 5, 2006.

Have you always wanted to use the school loud speaker? Would you like sharing the Arapahoe news for the day? If you are interested in reading the daily announcements next year, sign up for auditions in the Main Office. Deadline to sign up is April 21. If you have questions, please see Mrs. Ayres in the Attendance Office.

Come Audition for the 2006/2007 Arapahoe Colorguard. We are an award winning and very competitive team that has a fun family-like atmosphere! Through dancing, acting, and spinning flags, rifles, and sabres, we entertain our audiences creating and maintaining an Arapahoe tradition of excellence! Colorguard is a year round activity. Seniors! Seniors! Seniors! You finally get your chance to all appear in the school newspaper, Arapahoe Herald. This week in your social studies classes your teachers will be passing out a survey and if you want your data to appear in the May issue, fill out the survey and return it to room E8 by April 18th. If you don’t get a copy come down to room E8 and pick one up.

Congratulations to Junior, Lead Jazz Trumpeter, Colton Crandell, for being selected to the prestigious Mile High Jazz Festival All Star Jazz Band. This July he will perform on a KUVO Radio Show and at the CBA Summer Convention. Congratulations Colton!

Thank you to all the students who tried out for the Prom Talent Show. All so very talented!!! The list of those who made it into the show is posted in the Main Office.

Congratulations to our talented mathematicians!! Four AHS students earned a perfect score on yesterday's Colorado Math League Competition. Please recognize: Matt Evans, Paul Komatz, Mallory Pasque and Spencer Zepelin. Great job Arapahoe!!

Athletics

Congratulations to the JV Lady Warrior Laxchicks for their 15-3 victory over Douglas County on Tuesday afternoon. Lisa Richardson, Emily Fiske and Diana Hentschel each had three goals, with Courtney Jones, Kelsey Gibbons, Marissa Adelstein, Karlee Bobzien, Katie Phenix and Chantal Bouveron each scored a goal apiece in the victory. Good luck to the JV Lady Warriors in their upcoming game against Kent on Friday.

The girls JV soccer team squeaked by Highlands Ranch yesterday 1 – 0. Amanda Wojhan scored the lone goal with an assist by Lauren Durkin.

Last night the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team defeated Douglas County by a score of 19-8. Scoring for Arapahoe were Kristen Hosek 5 Goals; Adison Rounds 4 Goals, 1 Assist; Chloe Adelmann 2 Goals, 1 Assist; Kate Spring 2 Goals, 1 Assist; Channing Ahbe 2 Goals; Katie Gerhard 2 Goals; Stacey Birlson 1 Goal, 1 Assist; and Alex Stoicoff 1 Goal, 1 Assist. Nice work, Ladies.

Last night the Varsity Girls soccer team defeated Highlands Ranch 4-0. Scoring for the warriors are Mary Zapapas, Katie Amsberry, Dani Solich, and Lauren Cavarra. Great job girls!!
