General Announcements

Tickets for "The Sound of Music" will be sold during lunch next to the Guidance office all this week. Don't miss it! The "The Sound of Music" is sold out for Thurs, Fri and Sat. There are a few tickets for Wednesday's performance. Standing Room Only tickets will be made available at 6:00 each night on a first come first serve basis. You won't have to stand we will give you a chair. Thank you for your outstanding support.

Come Audition for the 2006/2007 Arapahoe Color Guard. We are an award winning and very competitive team that has a fun family-like atmosphere! Through dancing, acting, and spinning flags, rifles, and sabers, we entertain our audiences creating and maintaining an Arapahoe tradition of excellence! Color Guard is a year round activity. In 2005 we were State Champions in Winter Guard and in this past winter season we were State Champion Runner-ups!!!! Tues the 25th 6:30-8:30 CG Camp in the Main Gym, $25 registration fee

An admissions representative from Baker University, Kansas will be at AHS to meet with interested students on Monday, April 17, at 8:00 am. Sign up in the Guidance Center.

Are you interested in a career in Sports Medicine? Does helping athletes, rehabbing injuries, physical therapy and injury prevention intrigue you? If so, take Sports Medicine class. Registration is through interview only. Sign-up for an interview with Mrs. Bradley in the Physical Education department for the Fall or Spring semester next year.

Seniors! Seniors! Seniors! You finally get your chance to all appear in the school newspaper, Arapahoe Herald. This week in your social studies classes your teachers will be passing out a survey and if you want your data to appear in the May issue, fill out the survey and return it to room E8 by April 18th. If you don’t get a copy come down to room E8 and pick one up.

Seniors in Performing Arts: A scholarship is waiting for you in the Post Grad Center! Check it out! Deadline to apply is May 5, 2006.

Hey Arapahoe. Have you taken a lot of business classes? If so, you may be eligible for a Business Certificate of Proficiency. Certificates are awarded for Accounting, Computers, Management and Marketing. Pick up an application in the business office. Applications are due Thursday, April 20th. See a business teacher if you have any questions

Student Council elections are coming up. If you are interested in running for a class office position, you must attend the intent to run meeting on Tuesday, April 18th at 6:45 am in the Forum. There is office positions open for all class levels. Come to the meeting to find out more.

The deadline has arrived. If you still need to turn in a publication application, it is due TODAY by 2:13 p.m. New staff lists will be posted in Journalism and the main office by Wednesday of next week.

Beginning in the fall of 2006, Mandarin Chinese I will be offered. It will primarily consist of learning about the culture of China. The speaking portion of the language will be taught at a basic level and will include common expressions and useful dialogues. Basic writing and listening skills will also be addressed. Attention all students!! Would you like my job? Audition to be one of the voices of Arapahoe and read the announcements once a week. Sign up for auditions in the main office by April 21st. Auditions will be held April 25th.

Everyone interested in AP Science courses: please stop by the science department to pick up the Blue application form. They are due next Friday.

Athletics

The Girls JV soccer team defeated Ponderosa yesterday 4 – 0. Goal scores were: Amanda Wojhan and Natalie Maes with one goal each and Molly Law with two. Assists were given by: Amy Barczuk, Erin Gilmour and Lauren Durkin. Keep it up ladies.

Last night the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team defeated Rangeview 22-2. Scoring for your Warriors are: Kristen Hosek, Hadley Bush, Paige Tryggestad, Stacey Birlson, Alex Stoicof, Anna Lepry, Rachel Timmons, Liana Boraas, Karlee Bobzien, Melissa Bailey, Molly Ahern, Adison Rounds, Channing Ahbe, Kate Spring, Katie Gerhard, and Allie Ernsten. Doing some great work in the net was Goalie, Carter Morr. Great team effort, ladies. Please come support the team this afternoon at 4:00 when they take on Kent at Kent's stadium.

The Girls Varsity soccer team beat Ponderosa last night with a score of 3-0. Scoring for the Warriors were Lindsay Stein and Mary Zapapas. The girls look to take on Thunder Ridge tomorrow at 11.

The girl’s varsity tennis team lost to Heritage yesterday by a score of 1-6. All of the matches were close and the girls put up a good fight.
The lone winner for Arapahoe was our #3 singles player, Suzanne Chang.
Tomorrow, the Warriors go up against a strong field of teams at the Phil Krouse Invitational at City Park. Please wish your Warriors good luck!

The Arapahoe Girl's Non-Varsity track team won their meet yesterday by over a 100 point margin verses Heritage, Mountain Vista and Rock Canyon.
Out of the nineteen events, they won fifteen. First place finishers in the open events were: Marie Paul 100 and 300 hurdles, Devo Holland 100 m.
dash, Joy Weidmann 800 run, Natalie Huner 400 dash, Emily Lewis 3200 M.
run, Emily Zeis pole vault, Aubrie Daley long jump, Allison Hubert shot put and Carolyn Pasque in the high jump. Keep up the great work ladies.

Last night JV Black Lacrosse annihilated Cherry Creek 15-2. What a team effort. Congrats to Phil Englert, Eric Romsdahl, and Jason Ahbe for their first goals of the year. AND a big thank you to Michael Griffin, Dan Curtis and Miles Lepry each had three points for this game. Go Arapahoe
