This week we are celebrating Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. Students, be sure to thank your teachers for all that they do for you.
Come on out to tomorrow night's Spring Jazz Concert starting at 7pm in the cafeteria. Jazz I, The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs, and Jazz II will be featured. The concert is free and complimentary desserts and beverages will be served throughout the evening.
"There will be a brief TSA meeting tonight (Wed) after school at 2:20 to pass out information for TSA Nationals. This is for ALL TSA students looking to attend the TSA Nationals conference in Orlando this summer."

The Arapahoe boys swimming and diving team will host both Lewis Palmer and Ft Collins today at 4PM. This triangular meet is expected to be a fast and competitive meet. Don’t miss it!
Attention Students: The Special Olympic Soccer for Arapahoe will be playing at half time at the girl’s varsity soccer game tonight at 7:00 at LPS. They would all love for EVERYONE to come out and watch them show off their new skills and cheer them on. It’s going to be fun so we want to the stands to be filled!!!
Congrats to the Girls JV Soccer team who clinched the Continental League Championship yesterday with a convincing 7 – 0 victory over Chaparral.

We will run the video for two days during both lunches in the cafeteria. This will take place on Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st. If you are unable to catch the presentation at lunch, it will also be shown in the library each period throughout these two days as well. It contains important information designed to help you play smart and stay safe on the Internet. A link to the presentation can also be found on the AHS Website.

This means that if you are under 18 years old and you are caught with tobacco on school grounds or near the school you will be fined and mandated to make a court appearance.
Seniors: If you have not filled out a survey about your plans for next year to be published in the May Arapahoe Herald please check with your current social studies teacher to make sure you get one to hand into the Journalism department. If you do not have a Government, Economics, AP Government, or AP US History class and have not received a survey please fill one out in Room E8.

The girl’s varsity tennis team finished their regular season yesterday by defeating Rangeview 7-0. The girls ended up with an 11-1 season and finished in 2nd place in the Continental League. Next stop will be regionals in Colorado Springs.
Congratulations to JV gold golf for taking first place in the AHS Continental League Tournament and to JV Black for finishing in 5th place out of 14 Continental League schools. Top finishers for Gold were Michelle Gutknecht in 3rd and Emily Perry in 8th.

Congratulations FBLA! We competed at the State Conference in Vail and 14 members placed in the top ten at state and 7 Qualified for FBLA National conference in Atlanta Georgia this summer. Good luck at Nationals
Congratulations to all members of the Wind Ensemble who achieved the highest possible rating at Tuesday's State Concert Band Festival! They received a Superior with Distinction Rating - all superior scores from the complete panel of national judges! Only 24 bands qualified for state, and Arapahoe was awarded the best possible rating!! Way to go Wind Ensemble!!!

Students: Are you interested in talking to a representative from WestPoint, the United States Military Academy? Come to the Post Grad Center on Friday, April 25 at 9AM. Pick up a blue pass in the Post Grad Center for your classroom teacher to sign.
The acts have been chosen and the Prom Talent Show is almost here. Tickets will be sold during lunch for the 5:00 and 7:30 show tonight. Tickets are $5. Prom Royalty will be announced at the 7:30 show, so don’t miss it. Come and you may just see some great dance moves to use at the Prom!

Last night the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team won their last League game of the season against Smokey Hill, by a score of 14 - 11. Scoring for the Warriors were: Adison Rounds 4 goals, 1 assist, Megan O'Donnell 3 goals, Kate Spring 2 goals, 1 assist, Channing Ahbe 2 goals, Stacey Birlson 1 goal 1 assist,
Katie Gerhard 1 goal, and Sammy MacCurdy 1 goal. Goalie Jen Weidner had 6 saves. Nice game Ladies. Thanks to all of the fans for coming to the game and celebrating Senior Night with the team. Thanks also to all of the volunteers who organized the Senior Recognition event. It was a wonderful ceremony and all of the Seniors appreciate it.

In order to comply with state reporting to the Colorado Department of Education Arapahoe will be showing a 15 minute presentation on Cyber Safety. We will run the video for two days during both lunches in the cafeteria. This will take place on Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st. If you are unable to catch the presentation at lunch, it will also be shown in the library each period throughout these two days as well. It contains important information designed to help you play smart and stay safe on the Internet. A link to the presentation can also be found on the AHS Website.
Effective 4/26, this Saturday, a new ordinance will be in place which makes it unlawful for any minor to possess any tobacco products within 2000 ft of any educational institution within the unincorporated Arapahoe County. This means that if you are under 18 years old and you are caught with tobacco on school grounds or near the school you will be fined and mandated to make a court appearance.

General Announcements
Every junior will be taking the ACT tomorrow morning at 7:15.
Classes will begin at 11:30, periods 1 through 6 and the schedule is posted throughout the building. Lunch will be served for juniors only from 11-11:25. There will be bus transportation provided for juniors at the regular time and for all other classes, buses will run 4 hours later. The halls will be closed until 11:00 a.m.

The girls JV Lacrosse Team continued their undefeated season with a 9-6 win over ThunderRidge on Thursday and a 16-1 win over Douglas County on Saturday. Scoring goals for the team were Amber Olsen, Kayla Fasold, Liz Hallinan, Maddison Miller, Molly Witt, Shannan Pullara, Courtney Jones, Brittancy Walker, Ali Harden, Sarah Miller, Amy foster and Nicole Lyons. The team will finish up this week with games against East and Smokey Hill. Congratulations!

ALL Seniors: Plan to attend a mandatory meeting in the theater on Wednesday, April 23, starting at 10:30 a.m. sharp. This meeting will have important information regarding your graduation.

Congratulations go to competitors from the Arapahoe Speech Team who competed in the annual Littleton Breakfast Club Optimist Oratory contest. In the boys' division, Dennis Kutateladze placed first. In the girls' division Jaclyn Arnold placed first, Lauren Shomaker placed second, and Anna Kutateladze placed third. All winners received savings bonds. The first place finishers will compete in the zone contest next Wednesday.

"On Tuesday, Arapahoe competed in Metro State Math Day and placed in two of the three competitions out of 20 public and private high schools. Taking 3rd place in the algebra competition was Lily Nguyen, Tom Roberts, Dan Huh, and Sean Egan. Taking 3rd place in the engineering competition was Lane Childers, Alycia White, and Laine Greaves-Smith. Good job math students!"
Congratulations to Junior Jazz Trumpeter, Melanie Brown, and Senior Jazz Trombonist, Dave Ellis, who were recently selected as 2008 Sacramento Jazz Jubilee Musician Apprentices! This is quite an honor, since only about 6 youth musicians are chosen from across the country!! Melanie and Dave will be performing with a California Pro Band, called the Original Jazz Minors.
The State ACT is on April 23rd.

This national contest recognizes the best student newspapers in the country for outstanding coverage and page design. Congratulations to the Arapahoe Herald staff, number one in the nation!

Your girl’s varsity team did it again! They defeated Highlands Ranch by a score of 6-1. They continued their undefeated season and now stand at 8 wins and 0 losses. Congratulations girls!
The boys Varsity lacrosse team plays their first playoff game today, 6 p.m. at LPS against Heritage. Arapahoe is the home team. Please come support the team. Go Warriors!

Congratulations to all members of the Winter Percussion Ensemble for making Arapahoe School History on Saturday, by scoring a season high 91 points, and being named State Champions in the prestigious World Scholastic Concert Class!! This is a first ever for Arapahoe HS - way to go Winter Percussion Ensemble!!!
Congratulations to the Arapahoe Speech and Debate team who competed extremely well in the National qualifying tournament this weekend. Liana Boras qualified for the national tournament and will join Will Hea at the tournament this summer in Las Vegas. Shamita Punjabi and Jaclyn Arnold also competed in finals rounds. Great job!

Your girl’s varsity tennis team continued their winning streak by defeating Heritage yesterday by a score of 4-3. This is the first time that the tennis team has defeated both Littleton and Heritage in the same season for at least 5 years. Congratulations girls! Our next match is against Regis on Thursday.
The Varsity baseball team will host Highlands Ranch on Wednesday, April 9th in an exciting “Hall of Fame” game. The afternoon will be full of trivia; free give-aways will include such items as t-shirts and even hot dogs! The game will also be broadcast on Comcast. Please come out and support your Warriors as they take on the Falcons in a Continental League showdown. Go Warriors!

Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble for achieving straight superior ratings at Friday's CHSAA Large Group Music Festival! Symphonic Band received a superior in sight reading and an excellent rating overall. They just missed a superior by one point. The girl's varsity tennis team defeated Littleton on Friday by a score of 6-1. Come out to the AHS courts on Tuesday to see the Warriors go up against Heritage.
Varsity baseball plays cross-town rival Heritage at their field today at 4:00pm.
Our fans presence in "their house" reduces their home field advantage. Go Warriors!
A special invitation to all students to the Hall of Fame game Wednesday, April 9th against league rival, Highlands Ranch. The "first pitch" will be thrown by our newest sponsor "Streets of Southglenn"! There will be special prizes for students at this game! One more thing, the game is going to be televised.
The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team defeated Rangeview 12-2 Friday evening. On Saturday, they lost to
Kent 7-11. Their overall record is 10-2. Make plans to attend the next game against Ponderosa at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The girls JV soccer team continues to roll as they defeated Castleview 5- 0 Thursday and Highlands Ranch 3 -0 on Saturday. Keep it up ladies. All girls JV soccer players meet in room C-7 at 2:45 today.
The girls JV Lacrosse team had another fantastic week! On Monday, they defeated Pueblo West 9-2. Goals were scored by Audrey Damico, Amber Olsen, Kayla Fasold, Nicole Lyons, and Sarah Miller.
On Wednesday, they defeated Heritage/Littleton by a score of 9-6. Amber Olsen , Kayla Fasold, Audrey Damico, Liz Hallinan, Madison Miller, and Molly Witt scored.

Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble for achieving straight superior ratings at Friday's CHSAA Large Group Music Festival! Symphonic Band received a superior in sight reading and an excellent rating overall. They just missed a superior by one point. Also, congratulations to Concert Band for earning an excellent rating at Friday's Festival!
In celebration of National Poetry Month, AHS and the Muse (Arapahoe’s Literary Arts Magazine) are holding an iPoem contest. To participate, you must compose an original poem and create a digital project that – at a minimum – includes audio of your poetry. You will need to submit your project by 3:00 pm on Monday, April 28th. Entries will be judged by a semi-distinguished panel of AHS Language Arts teachers and the winner will receive an iPod Shuffle. Speaking of the Muse, the event you’ve all been waiting for is this Thursday night, at 7:00 pm in the Forum. You will see some of the most talented artists, poets and writers at Arapahoe share their gifts. Come and see your friends read their work and show their art. The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team defeated Rangeview 12-2 Friday evening. On Saturday, they lost to
Kent 7-11. Their overall record is 10-2. Make plans to attend the next game against Ponderosa at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The girls JV soccer team continues to roll as they defeated Castleview 5- 0 Thursday and Highlands Ranch 3 -0 on Saturday. Keep it up ladies. All girls JV soccer players meet in room C-7 at 2:45 today.
The girls JV Lacrosse team had another fantastic week! On Monday, they defeated Pueblo West 9-2. Goals were scored by Audrey Damico, Amber Olsen, Kayla Fasold, Nicole Lyons, and Sarah Miller.
On Wednesday, they defeated Heritage/Littleton by a score of 9-6. Amber Olsen , Kayla Fasold, Audrey Damico, Liz Hallinan, Madison Miller, and Molly Witt scored.
The team will play Green Mountain today and Douglas County on Thursday. Congratulations girls!

This special event will be held at Littleton Public Schools Stadium starting at 3:30. There will be over 60 of your warriors competing to see which school in Littleton has the best athletes. The Arapahoe track program would like to see as many students as possible out there supporting them in their efforts. The track program would also like to say thank you to all 30 faculty members that will be giving up their Friday by volunteering to work to help make this a first class event.

Congratulations to our 2008-2009 Arapahoe Varsity and JV Cheers! Tryouts were held the week before spring break. A list of all students who made the team is posted on the athletic bulletin board in the Cafeteria.

JV Gold & Black Tennis players that did not get their sweats yesterday at practice can pick them up in Mrs. Leyden’s office after 10:30 am today.
Hey Warriors--come on out Wednesday April 2 and support the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team when they take on arch-rival Heritage. This is always a great game. The action starts at 7:30 pm at LPS Stadium. So come on out, get loud, and cheer the girls on.

Rangeview – Friday, 7:00 p.m. at Aurora Public Schools Stadium

WISH WEEK IS HERE! We are sponsoring a young boy named Marcus. His wish is to go to Disney World. We have many events planned this week to help raise money to make his wish come true. Don't miss the senior students vs. staff basketball game on Thursday at 7pm. Tickets are $5.00. You can also donate spare change in any of the wishing wells located throughout the school. An important announcement from your 2008 Graduation Committee: You should sign-up now for graduation speaker auditions. Here is your chance to leave a legacy with your friends and family.
