General Announcements

ALL Seniors: Plan to attend a mandatory meeting in the theater on Wednesday, April 23, starting at 10:30 a.m. sharp. This meeting will have important information regarding your graduation.

Attention all students who applied to be Link Leaders for the 2008-2009 school year: Please see the bulletin board in the hallway between the library and English office. On Friday, we will post the students chosen for next year and important information for all new Link Leaders.

Congratulations go to competitors from the Arapahoe Speech Team who competed in the annual Littleton Breakfast Club Optimist Oratory contest. In the boys' division, Dennis Kutateladze placed first. In the girls' division Jaclyn Arnold placed first, Lauren Shomaker placed second, and Anna Kutateladze placed third. All winners received savings bonds. The first place finishers will compete in the zone contest next Wednesday.

Attention Knowledge Trivia Enthusiasts! The Spring Knowledge Master Open Competition is scheduled for Monday, April 21st after school in Room E-9. Please see Mrs. Lobser in the Enrichment Room to verify your participation!

Amnesty International invites you to join us Monday night from 7-9pm in the AHS cafeteria for an educational evening about the "Untouchables" of India. This multimedia event will help you understand the plight of some of the most oppressed people on Earth. See you there.

Anyone who received or purchased this year's copy of the Muse, we wanted to make you aware of an error on page 28. If you would like Kari's picture corrected, please see Mrs. Hitchens in the Art Department.

Congratulations to Junior Jazz Trumpeter, Melanie Brown, for being selected to perform in the 2008 Mile High Jazz Festival All Star Band this summer! Melanie will perform live on the KUVO Radio Jazz Show, and perform for the CBA Band Directors Summer Convention!! Way to go Melanie!!!

The State ACT is on April 23rd.

SENIORS: The JEM Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship exclusively for Arapahoe Students. The application is now available in the Guidance Center. If you have any questions about this special opportunity, please see your counselor.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: If you are interested in taking college classes while still enrolled in high school, you must attend an informational meeting on Friday, April 18th during your lunch period in the Forum. See your counselor for details!

Would you like sharing the Arapahoe news for the day? If you are interested in reading the daily announcements next year, sign up for auditions in the Attendance Office.

Attention junior NHS members: If you are interested in being an NHS officer next year, please sign the intent-to-run list on Ms. Gaffney’s desk in the Language Arts office. You will speak about your qualifications at the next meeting on April 23.

It’s that time of year again! Warriors all over the school are planning their classes and schedule for next year. If you have a question or need any help with what to take or when to take it, feel free to stop by the Guidance table in the cafeteria during lunch and speak with a counselor! They will be there to help answer your questions all week!

Attention all female upperclassmen: AHS is offering a one night self defense workshop on April 22nd from 7-9pm at the high school. This is free to all who sign up but space is limited. You can sign up with a partner during both lunches starting on Wednesday April, 16th.

Have you taken enough business classes to qualify for a Certificate of Proficiency? Applications are available in the Business Office and are due by April 21st, so stop by and pick one up if you think you qualify!

New issues of Arapahoe’s award winning student newspaper can be picked up from stands in the cafeteria now!

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month?? To celebrate, AHS and the Muse (Arapahoe’s Literary Arts Magazine) are holding an iPoem contest. To participate, simply compose an original poem and create a digital project around it. Want to know more? Check the Arapahoe home page and look for “ipoem.”

“This is a reminder to all students applying to AP Statistics or AP Calculus AB. Your COMPLETED application needs to be turned in to Mr. Swomley or Mrs. Bretz for these courses by Friday, April 25th.”

Athletics

Another top finish for the girls golf team! The Varsity team took third place in the Horizon Invitational at Riverdale Knolls Golf Course. Way to go ladies
