General Announcements

The State ACT is on April 23rd.
If you missed registration, please make an appointment with your counselor.

The Art Department invites you to view the “Art Attack:” Show in the theater and art hallways.

SENIORS: The JEM Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship exclusively for Arapahoe Students. The application is now available in the Guidance Center. If you have any questions about this special opportunity, please see your counselor.

Want to work in the DECA store next year? Get your application in the Business office TODAY!

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: If you are interested in taking college classes while still enrolled in high school, you must attend an informational meeting on Friday, April 18th during your lunch period in the Forum. See your counselor for details!

Attention future AP science students: You will need to fill out an application form by Wednesday April 16th if you are planning on taking any Advanced Placement courses next year. The blue forms are in the science office by the phone.

Would you like sharing the Arapahoe news for the day? If you are interested in reading the daily announcements next year, sign up for auditions in the Attendance Office.

Attention junior NHS members: If you are interested in being an NHS officer next year, please sign the intent-to-run list on Ms. Gaffney’s desk in the Language Arts office. You will speak about your qualifications at the next meeting on April 23.

"TSA Alert....TSA state competition is only 2 weeks away. How are your projects coming? There will be a brief TSA meeting to finalize competition plans Wednesday, April 16, after school at 2:25 for all TSA students attending the State conference.

It’s that time of year again! Warriors all over the school are planning their classes and schedule for next year. If you have a question or need any help with what to take or when to take it, feel free to stop by the Guidance table in the cafeteria during lunch and speak with a counselor! They will be there to help answer your questions all week!

Attention all female upperclassmen: AHS is offering a one night self defense workshop on April 22nd from 7-9pm at the high school. This is free to all who sign up but space is limited. You can sign up with a partner during both lunches starting on Wednesday April, 16th.

Reader 1: You will have to check it out for yourself! New issues of Arapahoe’s award winning student newspaper can be picked up from stands in the cafeteria now!
Reader 2: I can also read the stories online by going to the school’s website and clicking the Arapahoe Herald link. I am going to check it out right now and read what all the buzz is about!

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month?? To celebrate, AHS and the Muse (Arapahoe’s Literary Arts Magazine) are holding an iPoem contest. To participate, simply compose an original poem and create a digital project around it. Want to know more? Check the Arapahoe home page and look for “ipoem.”

“This is a reminder to all students applying to AP Statistics or AP Calculus AB. Your COMPLETED application needs to be turned in to Mr. Swomley or Mrs. Bretz for these courses by Friday, April 25th.”

Athletics
Congratulations to the JV Black Tennis team for defeating Denver Science & Tech yesterday 8-1. Good Luck to both JV teams today playing against Highlands Ranch.

Your girl’s varsity tennis team continued its undefeated season by defeating Regis yesterday by a score of 5-2. The varsity team is now 7-0. Today we go over to Highlands Ranch to continue our record-breaking season.

Congrats to the Girls golf team as they took 2nd place in a league meet at The Pinery Golf Course. This Friday, the team will compete in one of the elite tournaments in the state at the Boomerang Golf Course. Wish them luck!

The boys Varsity lacrosse team plays their first playoff game Wednesday, April 16, 6 p.m. at LPS against Heritage. Arapahoe is the home team. Please come support the team. Go Warriors!

Last night the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team defeated Green Mountain 13 - 0. The team spread the scoring throughout the players. Scoring for your Warriors were: Beth Ambrozic, Channing Ahbe, Stacey Birlson, Karlee Bobzien, Liana Boraas, Emily Fiske, Megan O'Donnell, Adison Rounds, and Kate Spring.
The team has a busy schedule for the remainder of the week. They play Rangeview at 4:00 today at Newton Middle School, they meet ThunderRidge at 6:00 on Thursday at Shea Stadium, and they play Douglas County at 10 am Saturday at Douglas County Stadium.. The girls always appreciate all of the fan support they receive from the Arapahoe High School community. Go Warriors!
