General Announcements

Attention Students,
In order to comply with state reporting to the Colorado Department of Education, Arapahoe will be showing a 15 minute presentation on Cyber Safety. We will run the video for two days during both lunches in the cafeteria. This will take place on Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st. If you are unable to catch the presentation at lunch, it will also be shown in the library each period throughout these two days as well. It contains important information designed to help you play smart and stay safe on the Internet. A link to the presentation can also be found on the AHS Website.

Effective April 26, this Saturday, a new ordinance will be in place which makes it unlawful for any minor to possess any tobacco products within 2000 ft of any educational institution within the unincorporated Arapahoe County. This means that if you are under 18 years old and you are caught with tobacco on school grounds or near the school you will be fined and mandated to make a court appearance.

Seniors: If you have not filled out a survey about your plans for next year to be published in the May Arapahoe Herald please check with your current social studies teacher to make sure you get one to hand into the Journalism department. If you do not have a Government, Economics, AP Government, or AP US History class and have not received a survey please fill one out in Room E8.Congratulations to senior Kelley Robinson for receiving Best Column Writing in the nation from American Scholastic Press Association, for his column "Rusted Message in Golden Compass."

Next Monday and Tuesday the Company class will present “Death of a Salesman” and “The Glass Menagerie” at 5:00 and 7:30. Tickets available from Company members or see Mr. Earley. Seating is limited.

Attention all Arapahoe students: Do you have spring fever? Well, get your crazy out at Habitat for Humanity's Wacky Tacky Dance on Friday, May 2. Wear a wacky costume and bring your friends because students from all high schools are welcome. Tickets are $12 and go on sale Monday, April 28 during both lunches.

Otherwise you’ve missed the bus!
Don’t forget that Monday is the deadline for the digital poem contest, sponsored by the Muse, Arapahoe’s magazine of arts and literature. Submit a digital poem with audio and even photos or video, and be the first winner of our contest that honors National Poetry Month. The prize is an ipod shuffle.
