Tomorrow is our Spring Assembly so we will be on an Assembly schedule. The Assembly should be great fun with our Pie in the Face, Guy Cheers, Tom boys, Color Guard and celebration of our spring sports and activities.
Cars and light trucks emit 20 percent of the nations CO2 pollution. The U.S. transportation sector, as a whole, is responsible for almost 9 percent of the world’s total CO2 emissions…in other words, the U.S. is responsible for more green house gas pollution than South America, Africa, the Middle East, Japan and Asia all put together. Carpooling for longer trips, or riding a bike, skateboard, or walking for shorter trips will drastically cut these emissions down and slow, maybe even stop global climate change. The next time a bunch of your friends want to go to the movies, have the person with the most seats (with seatbelts) in his/her car pick up everyone instead of having a bunch of cars drive there individually. The emissions from the driving of the one car are slight in comparison to all of the cars.

Has your IPod had a long, fulfilling life and now it has begun the death rattle of a gadget nearing its fateful last walk to the junk drawer? High school students go through A LOT of cell phones. Instead of tossing them in the trash or in a drawer, recycle them. If they are still usable, donate them to a program that gives them to the troops overseas or to some other charity. If they are no longer usable, the plastic and the electronic components can be recycled so that they don’t sit in landfills for hundreds, thousands, even millions of years. You can also get cash for your used cell phones. Go to cellforcash.com or Gazelle.com and you can look up the make and model of your gadget, answer a few questions about its condition to determine how the company can recycle it, ship your stuff to the company for free, and you’ll get a check in the mail. Depending the age of your gadget, you can net anywhere from $5 to $300.
Did you know that green is the new black and gold? Purchase a Go Green T-shirt in the DECA store this week only. This student designed t-shirt is only $10. All profits will be used to purchase a tree to plant on school grounds.
Hey Arapahoe! Do you want to see some awesome talent? Well, come see the Prom Talent Show tonight! There are two shows at 5 and 7:30. Tickets can be purchased in the cafeteria during both lunches for only $5. Come see all of Arapahoe’s talent.
