General Announcements

The debate team’s annual Lincoln Douglas debate scholarship competition reaches its exciting finale today. We will be debating fourth and sixth hours in E-9 (the tiered classroom). We will be debating whether it is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of more innocent people. The rounds are open to observers, so please come and support our four semi-finalists Ben Horblit, Nathan Arnold, Tony Junta, and Paul Friedrich.

If you liked the Color Guard performance at the Spring assembly, and you feel like that could be you out there on the floor, then you should come tryout for the 2009/10 Arapahoe Colorguard!

Congratulations to Jazz II, The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs, and Jazz I for outstanding performances at Friday's UNC-Greeley Jazz Festival! Jazz II achieved a High II rating, with sophomore trumpeter, Keke Kosse receiving an outstanding soloist award!! The Dixie Combo and Jazz I, both achieved unanimous Excellent I ratings!!! Way to go Jazzers!!!!
Be sure to join these superior jazz groups for a free Farewell Jazz Concert, tomorrow at 7:00 pm, in our Cafeteria. You'll hear some wonderful jazz, get to enjoy complimentary desserts, and celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of our talented Class of 2009!!

Clarinet Choir, Woodwind Quintet, Flute Trio, Woodwind Trio, Flute Choir, Flute Duet I, Nicole and Madison's Clarinet Duet, Quiet Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble III, Whisperer Percussion Ensemble, Donna and Matt's Clarinet Duet, Grant Furry, Tom Roberts, Sarah Cheney, Kelly Churchill, Molly Phenix, Zach White, Kevin Matthews, David Culp, Cameron Brown, Dan Matthews, Wes Leffingwell, and Emily Haller. Congrats to all of you fine band musicians!

“Not Like Us” an evening of one act plays presented by Company will be this Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm. Seating is limited but the refreshments are free. See any company member or Mr. Earley for tickets.

Hey all Juniors and Seniors, Prom is right around the corner on May 2nd. The theme is Venetian Affair. Tickets for Prom will be sold in the cafeteria during both lunches through Friday, May 1st. Tickets are $38 in advance and $45 at the door.

Attention Warriors: Lights, Cameras, you provide the ACTION. After Prom 2009 will begin at 12, Midnight May 2nd – 3rd , here at AHS. There are unbelievable giveaways throughout the night and even more spectacular giveaways at the end of the night. Tickets are 12.00 pre-sale and 15.00 at the door. Tickets are on sale during both lunches through May 1. All non AHS guests will need a guest permission form found in Mrs. Gottlieb’s office.

Seniors! Please fill out and return the senior survey for the final issue of the Arapahoe Herald. We need them by Tuesday, April 28th. You may return your survey, or pick up a blank form, in the journalism room E8. Thank you!

Those of you interested in taking an advanced placement Science course next year: The application for AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics B and AP Physics C will all be online this year. Please go to the corresponding teacher’s website to fill out the application. Applications will be due by Friday May 1st. You will be notified of your acceptance the following week.

News flash!! What seniors have been waiting for!! The JEM Scholarship applications just arrived! Stop by the Post Grad Center to pick up and application. Deadline date for submission is May 6.


Athletics

Congratulations to the Boys' Varsity Lacrosse team for finishing their League games undefeated, by beating Grandview 17 - 2 on Friday night. Your Warriors are the 2009 Centennial League Champions! Come out and support the Team tonight as they take on their cross-town rivals, the Littleton Lions. Game time is 7:00 p.m. tonight at LPS stadium. Go Warriors!

The Girls Varsity Tennis team took 2nd place this weekend at the South High Lady Rebel Invitational. Sarah Ray took 2nd place at #1 singles. Elly Fryberger and Saryn Mooney both took 3rd place at #2 and 3 singles. Lara McDougald, Rachel Severson, Alyssa Gafvert, and Teresa Yeh all took 3rd place at doubles. Katie Rafaghello and Jessica Wener took 5th place. Congratulations girls. The varsity team gets ready this week to compete in the regional tournament in Colorado Springs.

The JV Gold Boys Lacrosse team played their most exciting game of the season on Saturday against Heritage. The game went into sudden death overtime, and Ben Knopf scored the winning goal to pull off a 5-4 sweet victory! Lead scorer of the game was Ben Knopf with 3 goals, and Andy Ronald got 2 goals, but the highlight of the game had to be when our goalie, Van Becker, took the ball all the way down the field and took a shot on goal! Come out to see the team take on Grandview HS today at 4:30 at GHS.

Tomorrow, Tuesday April 28 at 4 pm is the Arapahoe Boys Swim and Dive Meet against Heritage High School. We will swim and dive here at the Arapahoe Pool. Come and support the team! Cheer on Arapahoe to beat Heritage!

Thursday is Arapahoe Boys Swim & Dive Team’s home meet with Cherokee Trail here at the Arapahoe Pool, starting at 4:30. Please come and support the swimmers and divers as they advance to the "Centennial B" & “A League" Meets and in May in Ft. Collins to the "Colorado 5A Swim & Dive Championships".
