General Announcements
Congratulations to all members of the Winter Percussion Ensemble for being named the 2009 State Champion Runner-up Unit in the prestigious Concert World Concert Class! Arapahoe scored 93 points, which is one of the highest scores ever for one of our competitive percussion ensembles!! This season was dedicated to our fellow Warrior Band Percussionist, Martin Walworth. This one was for you, Martin!

The Art Department would like to invite students and staff to view the wonderful creative works of art by our own Arapahoe students on display in the Theater hallway, “Art Attack” has arrived!

Attention all Advanced Placement students who are planning to take AP examinations in May: Today, Tuesday, April 14 is AP Pre-Registration. Please bring #2 pencils and blue/black ink pens. Please refer to the purple memo for further information and your AHS Student Planner. The second Pre-Registration date is Thursday, April 23. It is mandatory that you Pre-Register!!!

The cast, crew and pit orchestra would like to thank you for your support! Damn Yankees, The Musical is sold out on Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets are still available for Wednesday and Thursday nights, and will be sold during both lunches in the cafeteria.

FBLA, there is a mandatory meeting for those that are attending the State Conference this weekend. Please attend on Wednesday in room S5 after school. If you can’t make it please see Mrs. Swank in the Business office before Wednesday. FBLA officer applications are now available in the Business office. Come by and pick one up.

Attention Chess Players! The Spring Student/Staff Chess Match is scheduled for Thursday, April 23rd after school in the cafeteria. All levels of players are welcome. Ryan Beckett and Spencer Zepelin are the student coordinators. All registration forms are due on April 21st. Please see Mrs. Lobser for more information and to confirm your participation.

Attention Knowledge Trivia Enthusiasts!! The Spring Knowledge Master Open is scheduled for Thursday, April 16th after school in room E-9. We need your knowledge! Please see Mrs. Lobser to sign up.

The State ACT is on April 22nd. If you missed registration, please make an appointment with your counselor.

Spanish Club will be going to see the play Bless Me Ultima on Thursday April 23rd at 7 p.m. The play is performed by Su Teatro in Denver and is based off Rudolfo Anaya’s award winning Chicano Literature book. Tickets are $12 per person. If you wish to attend please see Ms. DiSepio by Wednesday, April 15th. Don’t forget Spanish club meets every Wednesday after school in room C-21 at 2:30. New members are always welcomed!

Have you always wanted to use the school loud speaker? Would you like sharing the Arapahoe news for the day? If you are interested in reading the daily announcements next year, sign up for auditions with Mrs. Ayres in the Attendance Office. Auditions will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 2:30. Deadline to sign up is Friday, April 24.

MATH TEAM WINS NATIONALS!

Hear ye! Hear ye! Arapahoe High School WINS the National Freshmen Continental Math League contest 2009. Ninth grade honors math students participated in a 5 month long contest starting in November of 2008. A perfect score for an individual on one contest is 6 points. Each month a contest was given in honors math classes and a team score is posted. A perfect team score for one contest is 36 points. This year, Arapahoe won with a total team score of 171 points. Our nearest competitor had only 168 points. Individual students are also recognized for their performance and Arapahoe has a medal winner this year. Blake Strobel got a total individual score of 26 out of 30 points. He got first in the western region and second nationally. Thirty-three schools across the country participated this year. The organizers of the contest will be sending the school a plaque with the names of the students and teachers on a certificate. Look for it next fall as it joins the other awards in the math office. Athletics

Congrats to the Boys JV Gold Lacrosse Team for their win over Douglas County High School last night with a score of 9-7. The lead scorer for the team was Andy Ronald with 6 goals!! Other scorers were Ben Knopf and Chris Youngblade. Way to go Warriors!

The Girls JV Lacrosse team defeated Ralston Valley on Monday with a score of 9 to 4. Scoring goals for the team were Maddison Miller, Sarah Miller, Amber Olsen, Chelsea Van Essen, Emma Lattin, and Connar Fitzpatrick.

The Girls Gold lacrosse team defeated Lewis-Palmer High School last night by a score of 9-4. This was following Saturday’s victory over Santa Fe Prep School. The ladies are now 6-2 overall for the season. Keep up the great work Gold team!

Good luck to the Freshmen Boy’s Lacrosse team who will go up against Columbine High School today at Ken Caryl at 5:30 PM. Go Warriors!
