General Announcements:

As promised it is time to announce the winner of the M&M filled pumpkin jar in the library.
The total amount of M&M’s in the jar is……. 825.
The student who came the closest is……. senior, Corinne Carstens with a guess of 820. Please come to the library to pick-up your prize!
As for the staff jar, the total amount of M&M’s in that jar is…..415.
The staff member that came in the closest is Christina Kolk with a guess of 395.
We want to thank everyone who participated!

Locker tags will be taken down today. If you would like to keep your locker tag, please make sure you remove it otherwise they will be thrown away.

$1,000 could be yours! Have you served our community by volunteering your time? If so, you could be entered to win $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. Stop by the guidance department and visit your counselor to find out how to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. Be sure to hurry! The deadline is November 1st.

CSU is hosting its annual Math Day competition Thursday, November 3rd. If you would like to participate please sign up with Mr. Thurmond in the Math office. Space is limited.

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The 2012 trip to Washington D.C. is here again! This trip is an amazing opportunity to experience Washington D.C. and participate with kids from around the nation in examining issues. This is NOT your 8th grade trip, which was fun, but was primarily tourism. For those interested in this trip please attend an informational meeting tomorrow at 2:30 in Room C8. If you are unable to attend the meeting please see Mr. Hawthorne or Mr. Meyer in the Social Studies department during any off hour tomorrow. There is also a parent meeting for those interested on Thursday in Room N2 at 6:00 p.m.

Congratulations to the following students for their performances in this past Saturday’s Great Pumpkin Novice Speech Tournament at Rock Canyon High School: Earning superior ribbons were Aaron Avery in Lincoln-Douglas debate, and the team of Jack Harvey and Sanjay Patil in Public Forum debate. Earning ribbons for excellence were Sage Scala in Poetry Interpretation, Ben Chisholm in Extemporaneous Speaking, and the team of Nikki Latala and Nathan Ducey in Public Forum Debate.

All students planning to compete in speech meets this November must attend Tuesday’s meeting after school at 2:30 in C15.

Athletics:

Attention all cross country runners. Tomorrow, Tuesday Nov. 1st, will be your last opportunity to turn in your bag and uniform. Please turn in your clean uniform and bag at the cage promptly at 2:30.

Winter Sports Registration will take place during lunches this week. Girls swim and dive tomorrow, boys and girls basketball on Wednesday, November 2nd and Wrestling on Thursday, November 3rd. Please stop by the Athletic Office and pick up your registration paperwork today!
