General Announcements

Attention National Honor Society candidates: Remember that the deadline for your applications is today. Bring applications to the library office.

Congratulations to all members of the Warrior Marching Band for taking 1st place at last Thursday's Metro Qualifying State Festival!! Arapahoe will be the Number 3 Seed at Saturday's State Marching Band Championships! Also, congratulations to the Warrior Band for placing 2nd in 5A competition at Saturday's Pomona Marching Invitational. Arapahoe scored a season high 80.20 points! Good luck at tomorrow's Pikes Peak March of Champions in Colorado Springs.

Attention all FCCLA officers and members: Don’t forget our very important meeting today after school in rooms E2 & E3. We will be discussing upcoming community service projects, district conference, and future plans for state conference. See you there FCCLA!

Attention all Sophomores!
What: The PLAN test is the practice ACT test. Get prepared for college!
When: Saturday November 1st. Please arrive at 7:45a.m.

How: Registration begins Monday October 20th and ends on October 29th.
Please bring $20.00 and a photo ID to the Guidance Office to sign up. PLAN for your future!!!!

The Fall play “Flowers for Algernon” is Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. Tickets are $5 and are on sale during lunches all this week in the cafeteria.

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The 2009 trip to Washington D.C. is here again! This trip is an amazing opportunity to experience Washington D.C. and Capitol Hill first hand as we enter a new era in politics. For those interested in this trip please attend an informational meeting on Thursday, October 23rd at 2:30 in room N-2. If you are unable to attend the meeting please see Mr. Hawthorne or Mr. Myer in the Social Studies department.

Do you write? Paint? Draw? This is a great opportunity to have your artwork, poetry and short stories published in Arapahoe’s literary magazine, The MUSE! Submissions will be accepted starting October 31st until December 12th. Directions to submit are on the AHS website under activities, The MUSE. Get your submissions in ASAP! See Mr. Miles in the English office for details.

Athletics

Varsity volleyball took on #1 ranked, undefeated Cherry Creek last Tuesday night and lost in an unbelievable match to five games. They were down 14 – 8 in the 5th game and battled back to lose 18-16. They are the first team to take Cherry Creek to five games this season. Great work, and thanks to everyone who stayed to cheer us on! The Warriors begin post season play this week.

The girls cross country team had a wonderful race this past Thursday winning the Regional Championship at the Aurora Sports Complex. Congratulations to both the boys and girls cross country teams for qualifying for State. The State Meet is this Weekend in Ft. Collins. Good Luck.
Attention: Cross Country Uniform Check-In - Cross Country uniform check in will be today and Tuesday immediately after school until 2:45pm.

Congratulations to the Freshman Football team for an impressive win Saturday against Cherokee Trail 28 - 20. The win pushes the Freshman record to 5 and 3 and also continued the freshman "home field” winning streak which stands at 3 years. Thanks to all of the junior and sophomore players for your support. The next freshman game is this Saturday at Smokey Hill at 9:00 AM, see you there.

Congratulations to the JV and Varsity Cheer teams on their impressive achievements Saturday at the AmeriCheer competitions at Chaparral High School. Each team took first in their division as well as had the highest scores overall at the competition. Both teams were also awarded title of “Grand Champion”. Great job Warriors!

Your boys’ varsity tennis team took 12th place at the state tournament this last weekend. The #1 doubles team of Brian Craig and Eric Law took 4th place overall. Congratulations to the entire team for a very successful season.

Congratulations to the sophomore volleyball team for an exciting win on Friday over Grandview. The team finished the season with an overall record of 15 wins and only 4 losses. Outstanding work ladies.

The boys’ varsity soccer team will host Rampart High School on Tuesday, October 21st for the first round of the state playoffs. Game time will be 4:00 pm here at AHS. Good luck Warriors!
