Speech Club members are reminded to bring in their money for the banquet. All nominees for next year's officers need to have speeches prepared for the next meeting.
Hey Warriors! Do you have the ability to jump, cheer loud and tumble? Do you enjoy supporting your school? If so, you may be the perfect person to try out for a spot on one of the 2007-2008 Arapahoe High School Cheerleading teams. There is a mandatory parent/athlete meeting tomorrow, April 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the Forum. Tryouts will begin on Thursday, April 26th. You must have a current physical and you and a parent must attend the Wednesday meeting to try out. Please see Ms. Pramenko if you have any questions.
An important announcement from your 2007 graduation committee: You should now sign up for graduation speaker auditions. This is your chance to leave a legacy with your friends and family. Auditions will be Tuesday, April 24th in the forum. Please sign up in Mrs. Sisler’s office between now and Friday, 4/20. This is a rare opportunity to share your observations with a captive audience, and time is running out. See Mrs. Ackerman in the English office for more details.
Attention FBLA members! Did you enjoy FBLA this year and are interested in being an officer next year? Officer forms are available in the business office with Mrs. Swank. Hurry and fill one out and return it to Mrs. Swank by April 20th! Thanks!
Have you always wanted to use the school loud speaker? Would you like sharing the Arapahoe news for the day? If you are interested in reading the daily announcements next year, sign up for auditions in the Attendance Office. Deadline to sign up is April 20th. Prom Talent Show tryouts are April 16th and 17th, so come and tryout. Sign up sheets are in the main office. All talent members must attend AHS. We need emcees and awesome acts. Don’t forget to sign up and come on April 16th and 17th.
The Muse, Arapahoe’s literary arts magazine, is in its fifth fabulous year of publication, and will be celebrating the artists and writers of Arapahoe TONIGHT, APRIL 10th in the Forum at Arapahoe High School. We will be having snacks from 6:30 to 7, with the showcase starting at 7. Our famously talented artists & writers will have a chance to read their poems or parts of their stories, or explain their artwork, which will be shown on the big screen. This is THE MAIN EVENT of the year to recognize the creative minds of Arapahoe, and we invite you all to attend and enjoy the amazing work of our students!! That’s tonight, at 7:00, in the Forum. Come Dancing! A Night to Remember is this Friday night from 7 to 10 pm. Please enter through the East Entrance and bring your student ID. The tickets are $5 at the door, $4 with a Remember bracelet. Dress is casual and the dress code policy will be enforced.
The Arapahoe Band Boosters are holding a Prom Package raffle all this week during both lunches in the cafeteria. Tickets are $3 each or 4 "chances" for $10. All proceeds benefit the AHS Band Program.
The "Prom Package" includes: Limo and driver for 6 hours-limo seats 6 with TV/DVD/Surround Sound, Dinner for two at the Copper Fox, Dinner for two at PF Chang's, Flowers from Cherry Knolls Florist, Tuxedo rental from Mr. Neat's-9617 E. Student Council Elections are coming up. A mandatory intent to run meeting will take place in the forum on Tuesday, April 17th at 7am. All interested candidates must attend this meeting. Elections will be held for class officer positions as well as Student Body Officer Positions. Students who have been active members or officers in student council are eligible to run for an office position. Please see Mr.Holman or Mrs. Abner if you cannot attend this meeting.
Hey Warriors! Have you bought your shoes for Prom yet? If not, head to Off Broadway Shoes the weekend of April 20 – 22nd to earn money for AHS DECA! All you have to do is purchase shoes there and bring in your receipt to Mrs. Grantham. That’s it!!
Are you intrigued by math problems? Do you like solving problems in a group setting? Do you like being challenged? If these apply to you, join other math students and attend the Metro State College of Denver Math Day on Wednesday, April 18th. We will ride light rail downtown, compete in math competitions, and take light rail home. If you are interested, see Mrs. Bretz in the math department or talk to your math teacher.
Athletics
Put down another great win for the girl's JV lacrosse team! The lady warriors went out to Golden and beat them 9-3 on their home field Monday night. Goalie Julia Baker had another fantastic game, saving tough shots right and left. She had a lot of help from a very tight defense, and together they made it very difficult for Golden. Offense was on fire too! Scoring for Arapahoe was: Alee Day; 2 Goals, Shelli Marr; 2 Goals 2 Assists, Katherine Igoe; 1 Goal 1 Assist, Hanna Hoopingarner; 1 Goal 1 Assist, Aubrey Pullara; 1 Goal, Leanne Cheung; 1 Goal, Courtney Thompson; 1 Goal and Brittney Walker; at least 2 assists. Keep up the great work!!! The lady Warriors take on Douglas County next. Fans, come on down to the Douglas County Stadium on Wednesday and cheer them on!!
The Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team scored another victory on Monday against Golden. The Warriors defeated Golden 21-10. This gives the team a record of 9 and 1. Way to go Ladies!! Scoring for the Warriors were Kate Spring 4 goals, 2 assists, Chloe Adelmann 4 goals, Stephanie Curtis and Adison Rounds each with 3 goals and 1 assist, Stacey Birlson 2 goals, 1 assist, Channing Ahbe 1 goal, 1 assist, and Hadley Bush, Emily Fiske, Katie Gerhard, and Megan O'Donnell each with 1 goal apiece. Goalie Allie Ernsten had 4 saves. Good luck to them in their away game against Douglas County on Wednesday night, and their home game against Regis at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday!
Again the girl’s lacrosse C-Team prevailed over Columbine on Monday. They won with a 10 to 8 score. Yeah C-Team undefeated. Good job girls.
Congratulations to Leslie McGetrick on her 3rd place finish in the Lone Tree Golf Tournament Monday. Leslie shot an 82 to lead the lady warriors.
The JV Boys Lacrosse team had its 6th win of the season beating Rangeview 10-2. Matt Huner scored 3 goals, Chris Conrad and Josh Cook made 2 each, Blake Besancon had one goal and one assist, with Fritz Jaeger and Hunter Hall scoring one each.
Congratulations to the JV Gold tennis team which improved their match record to 7-0 with a 7-6 win over Heritage. The JV Gold plays Poudre at AHS today.
Attention AHS Lacrosse fans!!! You have been so dedicated in cheering on the Varsity 1 Boys Lacrosse team toward many victories, and need you all again tonight!! The V1 boys take on high-ranking Fort Collins tonight at 7:00 pm at LPS and it's going to be another nail-biter. Tonight is Senior Night, so arrive a little early and cheer the guys on toward another great win. Bring your Warrior Spirit, some warm clothes and be ready to cheer loudly!!! Yesterday the V1 boys had a nice "warm-up" game against Rangeview where the final score was 21-5!!! The boys had another great team effort with 12 of the guys scoring points: Ryan Parietti; 4 Goals 1 Assist, Eric Law; 3 Goals, Matt Pullara; 3 Goals 1 Assist, Drew Babb; 2 Goals 1 Assist, Bill Mercer; 1 Goal 2 Assists, Chris Carry; 1 Goal 2 Assists, Kevin Law; 1 Goal 1 Assist, Dylan Leary; 2 goals and 1 Goal each for Alex Horn, Brandon Chandler, Matt Lueders, and Greg Colosimo. Way to go Warriors!! Keep up the great work against Fort Collins tonight!!
The girl’s varsity tennis team completed their match Monday against Littleton in which they won 4-3. Next it was Heritage. Yes, your girl’s varsity tennis team defeated Heritage last night by a score of 4-3. Congratulations girls! Weather permitting; come out to the AHS courts tomorrow to watch the Warriors go up against Regis.
