General Announcements

Hey all you spirited Warriors! This is a reminder that all paperwork for the 2007-2008 Cheer Tryouts is due in the Athletic Office no later than Wednesday, April 18th. Clinics begin April 26th at 5:00 p.m. Please see Mrs. Pramenko in the main office if you have any questions!

The Arapahoe Band Boosters are holding a Prom Package raffle will continue all this week during both lunches in the cafeteria. Tickets are $3 each or 4 "chances" for $10. All proceeds benefit the AHS Band Program.
The "Prom Package" includes: Limo and driver for 6 hours-limo seats 6 with TV/DVD/Surround Sound, Dinner for two at the Copper Fox, Dinner for two at PF Chang's, Flowers from Cherry Knolls Florist, Tuxedo rental from Mr. Neat's-9617 E. County Line Rd, Nails by Pauline-manicure and pedicure, Hair Style (can't remember the salon), 2 tickets to AHS After-Prom.

Hey Warriors! Have you bought your shoes for Prom yet? If not, head to Off Broadway Shoes the weekend of April 20 – 22nd to earn money for AHS DECA! All you have to do is purchase shoes there and bring in your receipt to Mrs. Grantham. That’s it!!

Student Council Elections are coming up. A mandatory intent to run meeting will take place in the forum tomorrow, April 17th at 7am. All interested candidates must attend this meeting. Elections will be held for class officer positions as well as Student Body Officer Positions. Students who have been active members or officers in student council are eligible to run for an office position. Please see Mr.Holman or Mrs. Abner if you cannot attend this meeting.

IT’S HERE! The moment you’ve all been waiting for! Applications to work in the DECA store are available NOW! Stop by the DECA store or the Business office to pick up your application to work in the DECA store either Fall or Spring semester of next year.
Attention future AP Science Students: You will need to come to the science office and pick up a blue application form in order to be considered for any AP Science course. This needs to be done for each AP Science course that you are applying for and the application is due by April 25th.

Tickets for "The Music Man" are on sale this week in the lunch room. The show is April 18-21. Don't miss it.

Important information for seniors! Applications for Business Certificates of Proficiency are now available in the Business Dept. Be sure to stop by and pick one up if you don't have a business class this semester. Applications are due April 30th and certificates will be distributed the first week of May. Don't miss out on this special recognition of all your hard work!

Hey all NHS Members!! We will have a meeting this Wednesday at 2:20 in the forum. It will be brief and we will discuss service opportunities and ways to get involved in Darfur. Please attend!!

Cookies for Cancer! All proceeds from cookies purchased this week in the DECA store will be donated to the Avon Foundation for Breast Cancer research. Stop by today to support a good cause!

CONGRATULATIONS to this past weekend's participants in the Colorado National Forensic League National Qualifying tournament in Speech and Debate!
Leanna Boraas advanced to finals, placing 7th in the district in Dramatic Interp. Semi-finalists included William Hea in National Extemporaneous Speaking, Shamita Punjabi and Sara Zellner in Humorous interpretation, and Amanda Noel in Dramatic Interp. Nathan Foley and Ryan Foley advanced to quarter finals in Public Forum Debate.

Students who would like to be on the yearbook, newspaper or video staffs for next fall, please complete your applications by Friday. You can drop the application off in E-8 or the main office.

If you were one of the artists or writers who had something published in this year’s Muse magazine, and couldn’t make it to the Showcase last week, stop by Mr. Miles’ desk in the Language Arts office to get your complimentary copy. You must do this by this by Wednesday the 18th. After that the remaining copies will be sold. Again, anyone published in this year’s Muse, needs to pick up their complimentary copy by Wednesday.

Last chance to sign up for the talent show. Sign up in the main office. Tryouts are today and tomorrow in room N2 and N3.

Congratulations to the twenty-four journalism students who attended national convention this past weekend. Yearbook received the Pacemaker, a TOP NATIONAL award and 9th in Best of Show, Newspaper was 10th Place Best of Show and MUSE got its first national exposure and an 8th place Best of Show. Eight students won national awards in Write Off competitions and exchange student Emily Larsen from Denmark quoted the First Amendment from memory and was recognized at the final awards ceremony.

Would you like to see Mr. Serniak with a pie in his face? How about Mrs. Hurt or Ms. Smith? These teachers have graciously volunteered to take a pie in the face if you put enough money in their can at lunch this week. You can even buy a ticket for a chance to be the chosen student to throw that pie if your name is drawn at the assembly this Friday. So, stick around at lunch and gather up loose change to vote for your favorite teacher.

The after prom drink drop off begins April 27th. Please bring them into the main office. Food drop off will be Friday May 4th from 4pm to 8pm, and Saturday 9am-12pm, and 9pm to 11pm. Please take the food to the cafeteria. Please contribute lots and often. After prom tickets go on sale April 27th, for $10. each.



Athletics

Due to a problem with the pool, all pool classes will not be in the water, today, Monday, and Tuesday. You are still to meet with your teacher in the swimming pool area, wear tennis shoes and bring something to work on.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team. On Saturday they defeated Regis 15 to 8. The team now stands at an 11 and 1 record. Awesome work Ladies! Scoring for the Warriors on Saturday were Channing Ahbe 5 goals 1 assist, Chloe Adelmann 4 goals, Adison Rounds 2 goals 1 assist, Stephanie Curtis 1 goal 1 assist, Stacey Birlson, Katie Gerhard, and Kristin Hosek 1 goal each, and Hadley Bush and Megan O'Donnell each with one assist. The Warriors next game is Wednesday night at 7:00 p. m. at LPS Stadium when they take on Chaparell. Wednesday night is Senior Night when all Girls Lacrosse Seniors from all three teams will be recognized. Please come out and honor the Srs. and support the Varsity team. Go Warriors!!

The girls C-Team lax for Arapahoe did a great job again and beat Golden 11 to 3. The girls C-Team rocks.

The girl’s varsity tennis team took 2nd place this weekend at the Phil Krous Invitational Tournament. Suzanne Chang, Lauren Craig and Lauren Stemper all took 1st place; Katie Maxey, Jenny Morris, Anna Blakney and Stephanie Corder all took 2nd place. Sarah Ray placed 3rd, Molly Ray took 4th, Laine Pacetti and Annie Lorenzo took 5th place. Congratulations girls! Come out to the AHS courts tomorrow to watch your Warriors go up against Highlands Ranch.

Congratulations to both the boy’s and girl’s track teams for their victories at the 12 team Regis Invitational. The boys won over the host team Regis by 4 points and the girls beat second place Rangeview by over 30 points. The next time both teams will be in action is this Saturday at Aurora Public School Stadium.

Student Initiated Groups-

Today the Gay Straight Alliance will be meeting after school in room w-102 to be discussing our plans for Day of Silence on Wednesday. All are welcome to attend.
